Historical Tidbit:
The Brockton Shoe Museum

The footwear exhibits at the historical society trace the evolution of American shoemaking from the 16th century to the present. From early Indian moccasins, walking shoes and slave shoes to present day work and athletic shoes, the entire story is detailed. One of the most popular displays in this complex is the "Celebrity Footwear" exhibit. Included are shoes worn by Ted Williams, Arthur Fiedler, Rocky Marciano, and the size 24 shoes worn by Primo Carnera - world champion Italian boxer of the 1930s. This exhibit also features the footwear of Mamie Eisenhower, former President Ford, and President Clinton - who recently provided the museum with a pair of his jogging sneakers. Another feature of this museum is our unique collection of military shoes, covering the period of the Civil war through the Desert Storm War.
Please check the following websites for much more information and several links to the history of American shoemaking: www.shoemuseum.com

Ecology: 'the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings."
How is my relationship with other organisms and my physical surroundings?

It can get overwhelming to think about and wonder what we can possibly do to help our environment. I think: “Am I in a healthy relationship with nature? “ I wonder: “Will my actions make an impact on the Climate Crisis?” The answer is I don’t know. I don’t. And I suspect you don’t either.

But I CAN tell you, each week for 13 years, your BuzzAround has connected with our communities to find and share goodness, to pool our energy around projects that make our lives better.. our homegrown initiatives, our local democracy in action. And I have seen THAT work. I have seen organizations and small businesses grow and blossom with the press we have given them. We shared news of ways people can get involved, and they did!

I AM also a firm believer that a collective of people can make change. And that the survival of our habitat is THE MOST important thing that needs our attention.
Announcing: “Climate Can Do” simple actions we all can do. Simple and meaningful steps. Things to think about. Together, we’ll investigate individual climate actions to make an impact, and find out if we can, by thinking ecologically, change the path of destruction humanity is on. We are small, but we are mighty.

I have hope. Hope for all of us. ~ Jacquie
