The Easton Shovel Town Cultural District and the Town of Easton announced the launch of an Artist on Display initiative at Town Hall to celebrate and showcase the creative works and talents of local artists and to support their artistic endeavors.
The initiative features a rotating display of artwork for the enjoyment and appreciation of the public and honors the important role that art plays in our community. It aims to provide a platform for local artists of all abilities, backgrounds and ages to share their talents and love of art with the community.
The initiative commenced with a display of beautiful artwork by two emerging artists, Ray Harris and John Januskis, who are also members of the House of Possibilities in Easton.
House of Possibilities (HOPe) provides disability services to over 300 children and adults annually from over 60 communities across Massachusetts. HOPe offers its members numerous opportunities to explore their artistic talents, find their unique artistic voice, and connect with others in weekly painting, drawing, textile, scrapbooking and poetry groups and events.
In partnership with HOPe for this first display, we hope to highlight the benefits of art for all people and to foster a more vibrant and inclusive community.

About the Cultural District | |
|
A Cultural District is a walkable, compact area easily identifiable to visitors and serves as a center of cultural, artistic, and economic activity. One of only 55 state-sponsored Cultural Districts in Massachusetts, Easton’s own Shovel Town Cultural District, located within one of the Town’s four National Register Historic Districts, offers a vibrant creative and culinary arts sector as well as a broad range of historical, architectural, natural, recreational and agricultural resources.
The Cultural District Management Partnership Team works to support local artists, bring free or low-cost events to the community and increase visibility and visitation to our local businesses. The Easton Shovel Town Cultural District is a valuable asset that promotes local arts and culture, drives business and economic growth to our local economy, and strengthens the well-being of our community.
