In the Cultural District

June 2024

Greetings from the Cultural District Partnership Team!

The District is excited to produce the popular Summer Concert Series on Wednesday evenings beginning July 10th to August 21st and the End of Summer Music Festival Finale on Sunday, September 22 on the steps of historic Oakes Ames Memorial Hall.

The weekly concerts will have pizza and cold treats for purchase and beverages from Shovel Town Brewery. The End of Summer Festival will be bigger and better than ever with food trucks and fun activities for the whole family. Bring your family and friends and enjoy live music and summer fun!

If you want to participate or provide sponsorship at any of the events, don't hesitate to get in touch with Amy at Arodrigues@easton.ma.us.

Thank you all for your continued support and participation and special thanks to ECAT for live-streaming the events so we can reach even more people.

ARTIST ON DISPLAY

at TOWN HALL

We are thrilled to welcome Delores Staton as the next Artist on Display at Town Hall for the month of June.

Delores L. Staton loves to paint freely. She knows the value of planning but prefers to explore and create as she images.

Delores credits teachers like Beverly Rippel, Carla Ring Carey and Nancy Sargent Howell who shared their gifts and helped her shape her creative vision. Vibrant color is uppermost

in her work. She gravitates most to blues, purples oranges, and reds, "the hot colors.” Delores believes the

viewer should be cheered, uplifted, and elated by the art image.

Her mission is to bring joy, beauty and a love of life to the viewer.

About the Cultural District

A Cultural District is a walkable, compact area easily identifiable to visitors and serves as a center of cultural, artistic, and economic activity. One of only 55 state-sponsored Cultural Districts in Massachusetts, Easton’s own Shovel Town Cultural District, located within one of the Town’s four National Register Historic Districts, offers a vibrant creative and culinary arts sector as well as a broad range of historical, architectural, natural, recreational and agricultural resources.

The Cultural District Management Partnership Team works to support local artists, bring free or low-cost events to the community and increase visibility and visitation to our local businesses. The Easton Shovel Town Cultural District is a valuable asset that promotes local arts and culture, drives business and economic growth to our local economy, and strengthens the well-being of our community.
