Easter Egg Hunt

Sunrise Service at Camp Tel Noar

10am Easter Service

The Easter Egg Hunt was a great success. We had more than 30 children who checked in for the Easter Egg Hunt! They enjoyed egg dying, coloring, and face painting. The Easter bunny, our own Erin McCune, greeted the children as they arrived, and they excitedly hunted for eggs. This event would not have been successful without the many volunteers who helped out in different capacities. Special thanks to Girl Scout Brownie Troop 62841 for all of their help! Loaf & Ladle Success

Thank you everyone who came to the Loaf and Ladle on March 26! What a smashing success! We enjoyed many delicious soups – including chicken noodle, vegan chicken pie, vegetarian chili, corn chowder, lasagna, sausage, minestrone, stuffed pepper and vegan butternut squash – along with some fabulous home baked bread! We followed up with dessert -- many yummy brownies. THANK YOU TO ALL THE WONDERFUL COOKS AND BAKERS!

Al and Marion Lake’s daughter, granddaughter and great-grandchildren all surprised Al with wonderful cupcakes – it was Al’s birthday!

We collected over $300 from the generous offerings – as well as $500 from The Lions Club. All will be donated to NuDay Syria as they continue their mission in aiding families in Syria affected by the massive earthquakes this past February.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Perennials for the Plant Table

Now that the spring weather is upon us, it is time to dig up and divide those perennials!

We will be having the plant sale at the Strawberry festival and the perennials are always a good seller. If you dig them now, while the tops are small and the roots are strong, pot them up and care for them, you can avoid the stress and wilt that digging the days before the event can cause. We will have nice, full, healthy looking plants! Please label your plants with as much information as you know: Name, variety, color?

Thank you, from the plant table team!

LED Lights Still Available

HCC was gifted some new DFWin 360 degree LED lights. These lights screw into a regular light socket and will allow you to angle each of the 3 sections the way you desire. The lights are $5 each or 5 for $20.

If you are interested, the lights are located on a table on the left wall of Hadley Hall by the Hospitality Table. A cash box is on the table so you can leave cash or a check made out to HCC with a note of LED lights.

All proceeds will help towards our Capital Campaign.

A Word from Peace & Justice

I read another article about senior long term care issues this past week from The Washington Post. It was about instances where seniors on Medicaid are being evicted from care facilities.

This is an issue in assisted living facilities for seniors who have exhausted their financial resources and have enrolled in Medicare. There are laws that bar nursing homes from evicting residents on Medicare, but they do not apply to assisted living facilities.

This is yet another situation that seniors face because we as a society have not thought through the care needed by an aging population.

Blankets for Project Linus

For those of you who have been busy sewing, quilting, knitting, or crocheting, we have an new opportunity to donate those handmade items!

We located a national organization that has local chapters called Project Linus (https://www.facebook.com/projectlinussouthwestnewhampshire/). This organization's mission is "to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans". Blankets are given to children in need through NH.

*We welcome all styles of blankets made in child-friendly colors/prints.
*Crocheted, knitted, quilted (100% cotton or flannel), fleece….you don’t have to be an expert!
*Blankets must be NEW, HANDMADE and WASHABLE.
*Fabric blankets can be quilted by machine, hand or tied. If you are tying the blanket make sure the ends are trimmed to 1” and the knots are secure.
*Please do not add any embellishments to the blankets such as buttons that could be swallowed by a child.
*If you are using a no-sew fleece pattern, please be sure to trim off both selvages FIRST. Not sure what selvages are? Ask the clerk who is cutting your fleece to please show you, they’re those odd looking edges at the top and bottom of the piece you have, sort of raggy looking.
*We accept all sizes of blankets. We donate to children, infants through teen years, so any size is appropriate. Baby blankets are typically 36”X36” or 36”X42”, toddler-pre-teen are typically about 40”X60”, and teen blankets are at least 60"X72".

Blankets can be dropped off in the entry way of Hadley Hall.

Thank you for your support of this project!
