Our suppliers told us to expect our shipment of this year's first halibut catch last Thursday, and it's here! The price is always high to start, so we won't be ordering a lot - if you just have to have some, we strongly recommend that you call to place an order - 630-887-4700. Ideas for Easter Brunch & Passover: 

  • Appetizers: Choose from our tasty spreads (Smoked Salmon, Smoked Whitefish, Shrimp or Crab-blend); an array of wonderful cold smoked seafood items from Ducktrap Farms in Maine; hot smoked salmon in plain and peppered varieties; our famous cocktail shrimp; crab claws, half shell oysters and more. Ask us for ideas.
  • Poached Salmon Tray: We will poach fillets of fresh salmon in a genuine court bouillon just for you - tell us how many people you want to feed, if this is part of a buffet or the main course, and we will tell you what you need. We guarantee that it will disappear quickly! Comes with our special Sour Cream Dill Sauce. Must be ordered at least 24 hours in advance and picked up on Saturday for Easter Sunday.

  • Hot & Cold Smoked Salmon Tray: Our newest tray, this is the highlight of the buffet for people who love smoked salmon. Comes beautifully garnished with capers and chopped onions.
  • Shrimp or Shrimp & Crab Party Trays: These are great for everyone to help themselves, perfect for the buffet or to pass before the brunch is served. Order by noon Thursday for pickup Saturday afternoon. 
  • Crab Cakes with Stone Ground Mustard Sauce: A delicious, easy treat that the kids will enjoy as well as the adults. All they require is a quick sauté, and they're ready to serve with a side of mustard sauce, which comes with. For Easter brunch, serve on an English muffin topped with a poached egg and the mustard sauce - easy and elegant, our version of Eggs Benedict. Add some of our fresh Broccoli Salad and one of our fresh rice or cous cous dishes, and a delicious gourmet meal is ready for the fussiest eater.
  • Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon, Goat Cheese & Chives: Whip up a batch of eggs with a little milk or water, cook them over low heat, and a minute or so before they're done, stir in some chopped cold smoked Ducktrap salmon, chopped chives, and some crumbled goat cheese. We guarantee that these eggs will disappear very quickly!
  • Burhop's Fresh Gefilte Fish: Made fresh in our kitchen, these are nothing like the ones that come out of a jar - they're delicious, and we do all the work! Our Gefilte Fish will be available in the fresh case, and we encourage you to place an order if you want a lot of them.  630-887-4700.(Not available until mid-April, closer to Passover.   • Jaime's Easter Herb Polenta: Cute seasonally shaped portions of fresh polenta - just sauté for a few minutes on each side and serve. Contains no wheat.
  • Deviled Eggs with Caviar: Looking for ways to use up those hard boiled eggs? Make deviled eggs by peeling the eggs and cutting the hard boiled eggs in half, removing the yolks, mixing the yolks with some mayonnaise, paprika, salt and pepper and a dash of Worcestershire to taste; spoon the yolk mixture back into the egg halves and top with some Salmon Caviar, reasonably priced and a lovely color, or some domestic Beluga, higher priced than the salmon roe, but exceedingly elegant. The Easter Bunny could show up again for these! (Caviar supply will be limited, so if you want to be sure to get some, call and place an order).

   In late June we catered a fun event for a family in Wilmette - a combined 40th and 5th birthday party, father and son. Another father and son duo, Burhop's Chef Jaime and his son Jonny, cooked up kebabs, lobster tails, sweet corn and more for a happy crowd of many ages. According to the hostess: 
"An AMAZING feast thanks to you, John and Jamie. The food was amazing and the chefs could not have been nicer. Everyone was raving and we certainly let them know who to call!  Thank you again, you have very satisfied customers." 

We have done an oyster bar for a party in Hinsdale, and a lobster tail birthday party in Kenilworth. 

And during Covid we did a socially distanced wedding reception with individual lobster boil dinners.
