Our April monthly virtual STARS training will be Social and Emotional Learning: The most important skills for school readiness. It will be presented by Jesi Sucku from ESD 112 and take place Tuesday, April 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Upon completion will receive 2 STARS hours.
In this training, participants will learn about the importance of social-emotional learning in creating a strong foundation for school readiness. Learn how to help kids become resilient, kind, community-oriented people ready to take on school and all of its challenges.
2.) Butterfly Pediatrics Monthly Meeting – Tuesday, April 23rd at 3:15pm
We have been having wonderful monthly sessions with our Partners at Butterfly Pediatrics this year as their experts join us virtually to answer your questions and give resources/ideas about behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations in your classrooms. Our next session is on Tuesday, April 23th at 3:15pm.
To make the most of our hour with them can you please email me at
david.mayer@seattlearch.org by Tuesday, April 23
rd at 12:00pm with any behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations you are dealing with that you would like the experts from Butterfly Pediatrics to discuss during the virtual meeting. I will be sending these case studies in advance to the Butterfly team so they can be prepared to give you as much information as possible during our time together. Even if you are not able to join the meeting, you can still submit situations and we will record the conversations and send a recording link. Also, please feel free to also send this information to your Kindergarten, 1
st and 2
nd grade teachers as they are now invited to these meetings as well! Thank you!

3.) Save the Date: INSPIRE 2024 Thursday, August 15th
INSPIRE is an In-Person Professional Development Conference put on by the Office for Catholic Schools. Last year we created an Early Learning Tract for the conference that had multiple sessions throughout the day that focused on Early Learning topics. We will be doing that again this year! Many more details to come, but please save the date for you and your team for Thursday, August 15th!
4.) Licensed ONLY - Licensing “WAC” of the week: Positive relationships and child guidance
This week’s WAC focus is on Positive relationships and child guidance. The WAC highlights using consistent guidance techniques to help children learn. Guidance techniques must adapt an early learning program's environment, routines, and activities to a child's strengths, developmental level, abilities, culture, community, and relate to the child's behavior. The WAC goes on to list the different guidance techniques. Please let me know if you have any questions and please see full WAC below.
Have a great week!
