Eugene residents looking for new opportunities to become involved in the community can apply now for positions on City boards and commissions. Each year, several openings occur within the City’s boards and commissions, and City staff carry out an annual recruitment process to fill the open positions with new or returning members.    

The members of boards and commissions provide an invaluable service to our city. They advise the City Council and City staff on a wide variety of subjects by making recommendations on important policy and technical matters. The detailed studies and considered advice provided by members of boards and commissions often inspire innovative programs and improved services within the City.  

Residents interested in participating in local government and helping to improve the community may consider applying for an opening. The following groups have openings in 2023:

Senior Planner

The City of Eugene Planning & Development Department is accepting applications for a full-time Senior Planner opportunity with the Land Use Planning team in the Planning Division. This position will deliver excellent customer service and assist the City and community with implementation of the City’s land use code and adopted plans in a manner consistent with the community’s vision. In addition to serving as project manager in the review of complex development proposals/land use applications (such as planned unit developments, zone changes and comprehensive plan amendments), this position includes managing current planning staff, continually evolving our services (including customer service, written communications, technology and processes) and serving as lead on efforts to bring the City's land use code into better alignment with the community's vision.
