Practical Safety Management Systems

Second Edition

14 CFR Part 139 becomes effective April 24, 2023. What does this mean for your operation?

An SMS must be adapted and continuously improved to meet an organization’s mission while reducing risk to the lowest viable level for flight departments, independent contractors servicing the aviation industry, air traffic services, and more. Beyond mere theory, this book encourages hands-on exercise and practical application of SMS concepts and principles to varied industry areas such as flight crews, maintenance, air traffic control, airports, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Drawing Winners

Congratulations to Adam, Rajesh, Luis, Paul, Frederick, Erik, Uri, Robin, Simon, and Christopher, winners of a signed copy of Barry Schiff's An Illustrated Guide to Flying.

All winners have been notified via email and most prizes have been claimed. If you see your first name above, you might be a winner. If you have not yet claimed your prize, please check your spam folder or email us to find out.

We asked Barry Schiff: What is one message you would like to share with young people interested in aviation?

He said: "Those of us who fly for a living...consider it going out and enjoying life. That's what being an airline pilot is all about. And if you wanted to do that for a living, well I can't think of anything better than that."

Results from a mid-winter break

Quiet (26.7%) and sunny (24.4%) places were favorite destinations amongst last month's readers. Finding both together would be nice. Only a couple (2.2%) chose a friend's place. What? They're not home? They probably flew off somewhere.

The following poll is for anyone who wants to participate. Your participation in the poll is voluntary. Your identity will not be made public and is used solely for the purpose of understanding ENROUTE reader preferences so that we can continue to provide you with the products, services, and information most useful to your training journey.
