FACES OF BYSO SPOTLIGHT SERIES
Ashley, BYS, Cello
"The people in ICP have become more than just members of an orchestra, but my closest friends."
Ashley has been a member of BYSO's Intensive Community Program (ICP) since age 7. Throughout her time in BYSO, Ashley has taken part in every BYSO ensemble, including YPSO, JRO, REP, Chamber Music, and now BYS.
"As a teenager, my life is mostly spent doing regular kid things like homework and sports, but it is ICP and BYSO that is responsible for bringing so many of the extraordinary things in my life that I will always remember. Whether it’s playing at Symphony Hall, conducting the Boston Pops, or making the my best friendships, I can point to my musical education as the catalyst."
Pictured, Ashley's first performance with BYSO, Ashley addresses the audience at the Chapters in Chamber outreach series earlier this month, and Ashley meets Boston Pops Conductor, Keith Lockhart last spring .
BYSO Featured in Symphony Magazine
Members of the Boston Youth Symphony were fortunate to tour to Leipzig, Germany over the summer as part of BYSO's 60th anniversary and continuing BYSO's longstanding history of touring. This fall, Symphony Magazine included BYSO in a feature on youth orchestra international touring.
While spending time with your loved ones over the upcoming holiday, please also think of your beloved BYSO family when giving Tuesday comes around on November 27th.
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
ANDREA ("ANNIE") JUDD, CELLO '00
BYSO is proud of its many alumni who go on to do amazing things, in music as well as in many other fields. Year after year, students at BYSO work hard and learn life skills that prepare them for the future. The training and discipline required to excel at BYSO create incredible pathways for our students!
Veteran’s Day is celebrated on November 11, and this month we had a conversation with BYSO’s alumnus Andrea “Annie” Judd (formerly Erdekian) Cello ’00, who served in the U.S. Air Force where she was deployed nine times in support of several operations, including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
