ECOEA LEGISLATIVE DINNER

The annual Legislative Dinner was held on Friday, March 8, at LaPizzaria with 100 members and guests in attendance. We were honored to have all three OEA officers with us--President Scott DiMauro, Vice President Jeff Wensing, and Secretary-Treasurer Mark HIll.

All members of the General Assembly and State Board of Education whose districts fall in the six counties served by ECOEA were invited. We welcomed the following guests:

  • Senator Michael Rulli, SD 33
  • Representative Scott Oelslager, HD 48
  • Representative Jim Thomas, HD 49
  • Representative Brett Hillyer, HD 51
  • Representative Monica Robb Blasdel, HD 79
  • State Board of Education member Michelle Newman, District 8

We appreciate our guests making themselves available to participate on the panel discussion where they were asked about public education and teaching in Ohio. A compilation of all questions submitted by members can be found at the button below and have been sent to all our legislators.

A special thanks to Jackson Memorial EA member Roy Dria and his amazing horticulture students for the beautiful centerpieces for this year's dinner. Great job by some very talented students!

ECOEA REP TO OEA-R ADVISORY COUNCIL NEWSBRIEF

Here's news and happenings from the OEA Advisory Council from Kathleen Purdy, retired from Plain Local Teacher's Association.

We are saddened by the loss of OEA-Retired member Kathy Green, an ECOEA Leader of Distinction in 2011, retired from Massillon EA. Kathy was not only active in the local, and district associations, she served on many community boards and loved her Massillon Tigers where she was known as the Shout Lady. Our sympathy to her family and friends.
