ECO MEDICS AG Posted Video #1

ECO MEDICS recently posted 2 new videos on their YouTube channel.

This video demonstrates step-by-step how to calibrate the ECO MEDICS ANALYZER CLD 88 Series. Calibration prior to every FeNO measurement is important to enable efficient lung function measurements and to obtain clinically useful and reproducible research data.

ECO MEDICS AG Posted Video #2

After calibration has been completed and the analyzer is in MEAS (measurement) mode, the instrument is ready and the clinician can begin trials/testing.

This video demonstrates how to perform a standard FeNO single breath test. The Analyzer CLD 88 Series instrument can perform a number of types of nitric oxide research tests. This is the 4th video overall posted.

Standardized of Lung Volume Measurements

The ERS and ATS societies jointly published a new technical statement on the standardization of the measurement of lung volumes. The statement is an update to the previous technical standard from 2005. Lung volumes such as functional residual capacity (FRC), vital capacity (VC) or total lung capacity (TLC) add important information in addition to the spirometry derived forced vital capacity (FVC) or the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1). Lung volumes can be measured by various methods including multiple breath washout (MBW), inert gas dilution, body plethysmography and even imaging techniques. The new technical statement represents a further step towards standardizing the measurement of lung volumes. This update will make it easier not only for device manufacturers, but also for the operators, pulmonologists and researchers to compare data from different locations. An important point of the new technical statement is the definition of MBW equipment requirements. In addition, the FRC measurement technique is described in detail. We are happy to report that the EXHALYZER® D by ECO MEDICS already fulfils all of the requirements regarding equipment specifications and measurement technique.
