He is a board member of the Episcopal Evangelism Society and serves as clergy representative on The Episcopal Church’s delegation to the Anglican Consultative Council.
Ranjit lives with his spouse, Johanna, their two boys, Dhruv and Kabir, and their dog, Samara. He grew up in the Boston area and considers New England home. He loves national and local politics, pop culture, hip-hop, sports, and being out in nature. He wants to be a star tennis player and accomplished potter in his other life.
"I am grateful to Ranjit for accepting my call to serve as Canon to the Ordinary in ECCT. He brings immense experience to the position. He has served as a parish priest, on Diocesan staff, and in service to the larger Church,” said the Rt. Rev. Jeffrey Mello, Bishop Diocesan. "I am confident Ranjit will bring his experience and his passion for the future of the Church and ECCT to his role. In his role as Chief of Staff, Ranjit will bring a listening ear and already enjoys the trust and confidence of the staff at the Commons. As Canon to the Ordinary, he will be a skilled sounding board and advisor. On a personal note, Ranjit and I have been colleagues in ministry since our summer Clinical Pastoral Education Unit at the Chaplaincy Center in Providence, RI. I look forward to building on our foundation of mutual respect and trust. Please join me in welcoming Ranjit to this new role."
“I am moved by the trust that Bishop Mello has shown by offering me this position, and am excited to meet our parishes just where they are, supporting them as they seek to serve the Realm of God here in Connecticut," said The Rev. Cn. Ranjit K. Mathews. "And I continue to look forward to working with parishes across ECCT to further deepen God’s mission of love and justice, and further embody the Beloved Community.”
