Flood Relief Fund, Team Inc.

On Friday, August 30, Bishop Jeff and the Reverend Canon Ranjit visited Christ Church (Quaker Farms), Trinity Episcopal Church (Seymour), and St. Peter’s (Oxford)—all churches and communities affected by significant flooding on August 18, 2024. Church members of these parishes are not only helping their churches clean up and rebuild after the heavy flood waters, but they are also helping their wider communities, where many have suffered the loss of livelihoods and homes.

ECCT will make a donation to Team Inc, a local non-profit who, in partnership with 99.1 and Chanel 3, are raising funds to help residents rebuild their lives in the area. You, too, can help with clean-up efforts by Donating to Teaminc.org.

Summer '24 newsletter from Province I School for Deacons

While that question is asked and answered in the Polity segment of our students’ Church History Formation Weekend, as it was this past June, it is also a question often fielded by our Province I School for Deacons Co-Facilitator, Jason Burns. Jason’s response: “The underlying question is whether anything done at General Convention (GC) is really all that important. For example, does it matter that…

• The Episcopal Church (TEC) decided to condemn the events in Gaza?

• TEC will divest itself of financial investment in companies producing weapons systems?

• An ardent racist was removed from TEC’s calendar of feasts?

• Our Navajo Land Mission was granted Missionary Diocese Status?

• Strategic legislative action led to passage of a resolution supporting the Association for Episcopal Deacons?

For Jason, the answer is, “It matters.” A first-time deputy representing his Diocese of WMA at this summer’s 81st General Convention (GC) in Louisville, KY, Jason joined many deacon siblings fulfilling various GC roles including over fifty serving alongside him in the House of Deputies. He sees passage of these resolutions, and many more, as a sign TEC is alive and we are striving to be a Beloved Community—a sign of our faith and hope for the future.

9/11, A Day of Remembrance

Let Us Pray

God the compassionate one, whose loving care extends to all the world, we remember this day your children of many nations and many faiths whose lives were cut short by the fierce flames of anger and hatred. Console those who continue to suffer and grieve, and give them comfort and hope as they look to the future. Out of what we have endured, give us the grace to examine our relationships with those who perceive us as the enemy, and show our leaders the way to use our power to serve the good of all for the healing of the nations. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord who, in reconciling love, was lifted up from the earth that he might draw all things to himself. Amen. -The Most Reverend Frank T. Griswold

Pastoral word from Presiding Bishop Michael Curry on 20th anniversary of 9/11
