Member session recordings now available | As part of SaskCulture’s Member Session at the 2024 Annual General Meeting, cultural leaders from three exciting initiatives shared their work and discussed key learnings made along the way. The first two sessions are now available as recordings on the SaskCulture YouTube account, and the third will be released later in the week. Teagan Littlechief wins big at Sask. music awards | Teagan Littlechief was named female artist of the year at this year’s Saskatchewan Country Music Association awards weekend. Littlechief's win marks the first time an Indigenous musician has won Female Artist of the Year. She also secured the win for Indigenous Artist of the Year award for the third consecutive year and earned a nomination for Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year. Littlechief, one of Saskatchewan’s most well-known artists, is from White Bear First Nation and has been singing since the age of five. She joined the Saskatchewan Music Association around 22 years ago. Read more | Heritage Saskatchewan research surveys look at state of volunteerism | To explore how volunteerism has changed after the COVID-19 pandemic, Heritage Saskatchewan has opened two surveys: a Survey for Heritage Organizations on the sector's needs for volunteers, and a Survey for Volunteers on the needs of volunteers within the sector. Heritage organizations, including heritage sites or historic buildings, cultural organizations or festivals, advocacy societies, 'Friends of' a museum, etc., as well as volunteers at these organizations, are encouraged to fill out the survey before July 16, and share it with others in the sector. Hill Strategies released a new analysis of province-by-province growth or decline in cultural economies, using recently released data for 2022. Across Canada, most provincial and territorial cultural economies have not kept up with inflation and population growth between 2010 and 2022, and only Nunavut’s cultural economy has recovered beyond pre-pandemic levels.
Among the jurisdictions that saw real per capita decreases in their cultural economies, Saskatchewan saw the smallest decrease (-13%). This comes slightly above the national average, since nationwide, the cultural economy decreased by 14% between 2010 and 2022. Read more

Medicine Wheel Workshops (City of Prince Albert - Artists in Communities)
On Wednesdays in July, join Lisa Halsall & Alex Powalinsky for Medicine Wheel workshops. This series of workshops uses self-reflection, beading, and medicine wheel teachings to help participants explore their strengths and resources in all aspects of their being. Workshops are for the Indigiqueer community and allies. Participants may attend all sessions or one session.
