Celebrating the impact of Culture Days in SK | |

The next Culture Days celebration will take place from September 20 to October 13, 2024, marking its 15th anniversary this year.
Since its launch in 2010, Culture Days Saskatchewan has played a significant role in the national celebration by offering over 4,000 free arts, heritage, and culture activities to communities throughout the province and engaging over 460,000 attendees.

Donate to Creative Kids in April to double your impact | |

Help support kids who wish to access quality arts activities this summer. TD Bank will match all donations made to the Creative Kids campaign from April 15 - 30, up to $20,000.
Donate now to help children and youth facing financial barriers participate in life-changing cultural activities.
Creative Kids removes financial barriers for Saskatchewan kids to participate in arts and culture such as dance, art, drama, and music. Funds raised by this raffle will support local children ages 4 to 19 to participate in creative and cultural activities. Read more

Grant Spotlight: Northern Youth Cultural Fund | |
The Northern Youth Cultural Fund (NYCF), delivered in partnership with the Northern Sport, Culture and Recreation District (NSCRD), provides funding for cultural, artistic or creative interactive activities for children and youth ages 4 to 19 in northern Saskatchewan.
Application deadline: May 15

Rivers West announces Volunteer Recognition Awards recipients | This month, the Rivers West District for Sport, Culture & Recreation announced the 2024 award recipients of their Volunteer Recognition Awards. The winners include artist Clay DeBray in the Culture - Artist of the Year category, and the volunteer-run Lashburn Centennial Museum in the Culture - Museum of the Year category. Celebration of their achievements will be highlighted on the Rivers West’s social media and website throughout the coming year. Read more | Canada’s Volunteer Awards open for nominations | Nominate an outstanding individual, a not-for-profit organization, a social enterprise, or a socially responsible business who has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of others in their community through volunteering. The nomination period for the Canada Volunteer Awards is open and will run until June 12. The award recipients will be recognized at an award ceremony and will be given the opportunity to select a non-profit organization to receive a grant. Read more | SK journalist receives honorary degree | Saskatchewan-born investigative reporter Connie Walker will be awarded a Doctor of Civil Law honorary degree by the University of King’s College this May to celebrate her dedication to telling the stories that must be told for true Reconciliation to be possible. Walker, who is a member of Okanese First Nation, is one of the journalists behind the podcast Stolen: Surviving St. Michael’s, which delved into the devastating impacts of intergenerational trauma stemming from Indian Residential Schools. In April 2021, Statistics Canada reported Saskatchewan had the highest rate of volunteerism of any province, about 15 per cent higher than the national average. It is important to consider volunteer turnover to ensure continuity, especially with many long-serving volunteers stepping down from their roles due to retirement.
