Awareness Campaigns & Days in May | |
Jewish Heritage Month - May
In Canada, May is Jewish Heritage Month. Beginning as early as the 17th century we’ve seen Jewish immigrants come to Canada from all over Europe to build new lives and their influence has helped to shape Canada into the country it is today. Throughout our history there have been many prominent Jewish Canadians such as activists like Léa Roback who campaigned for Women’s Suffrage and labour rights, professionals like Tillie Taylor who was the first Chairperson of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, and artists like Seth Rogen known for their activism as well as their performances. We’re thankful to all the Jewish members of our community and are proud to have them. For more info: https://jewishheritage.ca (Image from jewishheritage.ca)

Asian Heritage Month - May
In Canada, May is Asian Heritage Month. Beginning in the 18th century we’ve seen immigrants come from many Asian countries to live in Canada and over time establish communities of their own unique cultures here in Canada. There are many prominent Asian Canadians that have contributed to Canada’s growth. Artists like Vivek Shraya campaign for LGTBQ+ rights, environmentalists like David Suzuki campaign for our planet, and rights activists like Chow Quen Lee help right injustices of our past. We’ve felt their effects of our Asian community members on our culture and history and are thankful to have them. For more info:
