Both of Sunday’s services were so moving as Rhys brought a wonderful message of waiting on God. We acknowledged our graduates at the 11:00 am Baccalaureate service. As with each graduating class, it will be so hard to see them “move on.” But, we are proud of them for accomplishing this milestone in their lives, and are excited to see the men and women they become as they walk with the Lord. Thank you to the Celebration Choir (8:30) and Abby Wilson (11:00) for the special music.

 

What have you learned lately? Of course, we “learn” news every day. Each day’s headlines bring more calamity, violence, death, threats of war, incompetence of governmental leaders, etc. into our thoughts.

But, what do you learn from this news? The news that is reported may or may not accurately portrait the newsworthy events that actually happened. The reported news is intended to sensationalize, dramatize, and otherwise magnetize events in order to pique your interest. The more people who read an article, the more advertising dollars can be raked in (It used to be based upon magazine and newspaper subscriptions, but now with digital media, individual “clicks” can be counted.).

As a result, we are not really “learning” anything worthwhile. We are merely being entertained. It’s the people who actually believe all that false news, on the left and the right, who are in line to become the next news headline!

This is not anything new. Funny how Solomon wrote nearly 3000 years ago that there is nothing new under the sun! Also, listen to 2 Timothy 3:13-15 – “¹³ But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived. ¹⁴ But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. ¹⁵ You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus” (NLT).

How can we apply this biblical admonition?
