Easter Sunday was another precious day of worship! The choir’s cantata was Spirit-filled and lifted us to another level. Thank you, Bro. Brad and choir! And, Ethan Wilson’s solo blessed us all. In the 11:00am service we rejoiced with the baptism of Hunter Burge and Owen Cloy. Folks, it just keeps getting gooder and gooder!
I also want to thank Lori Replogle and her helpers for organizing and leading another great Easter Egg Hunt children’s event. The wet grounds behind the Fellowship Hall hindered, but did not prevent an enthusiastic egg hunt by some excited children. It was hard to tell if their excitement was the result of the egg hunt, inflatable slides, Gaga Ball pit, or all the sugary treats!
I just want to say a special word of thanks to Bro. Brad. When the youth DNOW praise band canceled on short notice in leading worship on Sunday, April 3rd, Brad stepped up, and planned and led the worship services. Two days later he planned and organized a Senior Adult Luncheon that hosted Mississippi Baptist Foundation Director, Dr. Daniel Hall. Then, on April 10th he sang and introduced the disciples as part of the Living Lord’s Supper presentation (Who was not moved by his rendition of Via Dolorosa?). Not only that, but he scripted and directed the entire event, as well as planning and directing all of the props and decorations for the Sanctuary. He planned the cantata for Easter Sunday, and has been the staff representative and coordinator for Bible Drills. AND, he has planned and arranged for a Greater Vision concert here on April 30th. This has all been in just the month of April! Thank you, Brad, for all you have done to make this Easter, and the entire month, so special in the life of our church!
This coming Sunday, April 24th, we will vote by secret ballot in both morning services on whether to build the gym we have been talking about for more than 40 years. This is an opportunity for this vision to come to fruition. I believe it is God’s will, or else I never would have put this before us, as I have encouraged us to see it through. However, I’ve never claimed that God only speaks to the pastor in making His will known. This Sunday our vote will reveal God’s will in this matter – but only if we are prayerfully led by the Holy Spirit in casting our vote. That is why I am pleading with you to pray earnestly ahead of marking your ballot this Sunday. The Prayer Committee has organized a 24-hour prayer vigil that will run from 6:00pm Friday until 6:00pm Saturday. Sign-up sheets have been circulated. If you haven’t signed up for a 30-minute slot yet, please do so Wednesday evening, or by calling the church office. Prayer is the best indicator I know for a believer to express to God his or her desire for something meaningful to them, and in expressing by faith our reliance on His provision for that desire.
We Serve a Risen Savior!
