creekside near the lower parking lot.
Registration is required to attend this outdoor offering
as capacity is limited by Diocesan standards
for conducting outdoor worship during pandemic.

End your Sunday by joining others from St.Bede's
in the quiet evening prayer form known as Compline.
We usually take a few moments at the end to catch up as well.

"Together Zoom" for All-Ages
Sunday, 1 November, 11:15am
Our next Together Zoom for All-Ages will be after morning prayer on Nov 1, 2020 at 11:15am - noon.
- Bring any crafts (from Formation at Home, school projects, quilting/crocheting/mask making--you name it!) that you have made in the last two months to share with others in our celebration of creating time.
- Have some 8 1/2 x 11 paper on hand for a fun craft taught by Max Kottke!
- If you did the 3 minute challenges and collected Creation Cash in your Love in Action box, count up your totals! We will be donating our "Cash" to two charities (backed by money budgeted for community projects). But don't worry if you haven't done the challenges! There will be one more challenge during the Zoom, so everyone will have something to contribute to the totals!
- Friends and family are welcome! We'd love to see some new faces.

Happy 60th Anniversary St. Bede's
St. Bede's has been an integral part of the community since it was founded in 1960. This picture from the Archives (provided by Jim Helms) shows the first building constructed on campus - our current Mission Wing. What story does this picture tell us about our history? What are your earliest memories of St. Bede's?
In celebration of St. Bede's 60th year, and to mark this historic time in our nation's history, we invite you to participate in our upcoming "Keeping the Faith" project. During the month of November we will collect written reflections and other creative expressions of our faith to preserve for future generations of this community. in the Virtual 2-Day Breast Cancer Walk
Team St. Bede did an outstanding job in the 2020 virtual 2-Day Breast Cancer Walk. We raised $1,893.00 exceeding our goal of $1,000. MoveSpring, an app used for the walk, tracked donations and mileage. Team St. Bede consisted of 12 members and came in 5th on the leaderboard racking up a total of 768.11 miles. We wish to thank everyone for their encouragement, well wishes and donations.

Popcorn Theology on Zoom

We'll be watching 42, to remember and to give thanks for the life, courage and artistic gifts of the recently deceased Chadwick Boseman.

42 is set in 1946. This is the year in which the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford), decided it was time for him to take a stand against Major League Baseball's infamous color line. He and his colleagues quietly conducted a national search, looking for person who was not only an exceptional player but also one with the forbearance and resilience to be the first black man to play in the Major Leagues. Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) to the team. This deal placed both men in the crosshairs of the public, the press and other players. Facing unabashed racism from every side, Jackie Robinson found within himself the capacity to meet the racism head on with tremendous courage. He was able to remain rooted in his self-worth so he could continue to let his gift and talent on the baseball field gradually win over fans and his teammates, silencing his critics and changing the world by changing the game of baseball.
PG-13, about 2 hours and 8 minutes with the end credits. The film was released in 2013 and stars Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie, and Andre Holland.

We'll meet on one of the St. Bede's Zoom accounts from 7-8 the evening of November 7th (the invitation will be emailed before the gathering) to share our insights, to reflect on where we saw and heard God in the movie, to share our connections with the content of the movie and we'll end our time together with Compline.

The New York Times best-selling book exploring the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged, and how these reactions maintain racial inequality.

Vestry Establishes
Community Emergency Assistance Fund
In addition to all of the wonderful ways that the Community Engagement Team is leading us in supporting community ministry partners (locally, churchwide, and globally) during this critical time, the Vestry has established a Community Emergency Assistance Fund to help people within the greater St. Bede's community with food assistance during the current public health crisis. This fund will be administered confidentially by the clergy in a similar way as their normal discretionary funds, but will be used exclusively to help with food assistance during this crisis.
UPDATE of September 24: We have collected around $5,800 and distributed over $2,800 in assistance though food and utility support for individuals and families so far during the current public health crisis. The current balance of the fund stands at around $3,000 and new needs continue to present themselves. A dedicated group of members work with Fabio to help identify need and deliver food. Thank you to all who have contributed!
