City of Cottleville Selects New City Administrator

On February 1, 2024, Michael Padella officially took over the official duties of the City Administrator position for the City of Cottleville. Mr. Padella was selected by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to manage the day-to-day operations of the City. He replaced the long-time City Administrator and City Engineer, Rich Francis, who will begin to phase into part-time status later this year. Mr. Francis will now serve as the Director of Public Works and City Engineer. This will allow for a smooth transition while bringing Mr. Padella up to speed.

Padella has over 22 years of municipal government experience having held various positions with the cities of O’Fallon, Old Monroe, and most recently Weldon Spring as their City Administrator for the past 17 years. During this time, he managed public works projects, parks and recreational initiatives/activities, financial resources, and staff. He has served on numerous professional and civic organization boards and committees including the St. Charles Economic Development Council, Knights of Columbus, and the Cottleville/Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Padella stated that he is excited to join the Cottleville team by putting his skills to work and leading the organization on a path of continued success while being mindful to ensure long-term economic sustainability for the community.

Mayor Bob Ronkoski said, “We are grateful for the years of service Rich has provided our community. His experience and expertise in the area of development has been instrumental in guiding Cottleville through an exciting growth phase.” The Mayor went on to say, “I am also thrilled that we have been able to add yet another seasoned professional to our team so the residents and businesses of Cottleville can continue to count on their local government to deliver quality and reliable city services!”

Gutermuth Road Improvements & Redesign Update

The St. Charles County Road Board and MoDOT have dedicated funding to straighten and widen Gutermuth Road on to Motherhead Road including an 8 foot wide multi-use trail. Design and right-of-way acquisition initially delayed phase 3 of the project. In addition, construction bids received were also over budget, therefore the project is currently being redesigned. St. Charles County expects to put the project out to bid again in 2024. For more information: 636-949-7490.
