BACS & the Oakland A's
To celebrate the beginning of summer, and  continue to build community for our participants who struggle with mental health issues and homelessness, staff and participants went to an A's game!
Our team of staff and participants rooted for the Oakland Athletics against the Texas Rangers. The A's won 7-0, with an amazing 6 home runs in the 8th inning.

Happy summer, and go A's!

We Move for Health
BACS staff and participants had an amazing time at the annual 10x10 Wellness We Move for Health event! This 5k around Lake Merritt included dancing, drumming, and even a farmer's market. Participants from BACS and other organizations shared stories about their road to health. 2015 was great, and we are already looking forward to 2016!

Employer Spotlight

BACS would like to acknowledge Patrice Porter, Manager of Days Inn Hayward, for partnering with our Supported Employment Program, a program that helps people living with mental health issues find and maintain competitive employment. She is making a difference in the community by helping people maintain meaningful employment.

Patrice has been instrumental in the wellness of BACS Participant & Days Inn employee Anna Monzon. Patrice is always willing to discuss needs that could help Anna perform her best while on the job, and w orks with BACS Employment Coordinator Malcolm Wallace to highlight Anna's strengths, identify challenge areas, and develop good follow-along plans that support and encourage Anna.

Thank you Patrice and Days Inn Hayward for your much valued partnership!

NAMI Walk
On Saturday, May 30, 2015, our South County Wellness Center represented BACS at the annual NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walk in San Francisco. Our team captain, Charleen Stearns, Lead Peer Counselor, worked hard to put this group together! She and the team raised more than $700 to go towards NAMI's efforts in improving the lives of people with mental illness. Great job, Charlene and team!
