Last evening, CBIC brought together more than 230 of the region's leading business and technology innovators for its sold-out Awards Gala at Farmington Country Club, at which the 2013 award recipients in seven categories were announced.
The 2013 honorees included:
Rocket Award for rapid commercialization of a technology or product:
Spotlight Award for bringing positive attention to the region as an innovation hub:
Breakthrough Award for a breakthrough or quantum advance:
Community Award for a CBIC member organization that has served as a role model for community volunteerism, through their personal donation of both time and resources, or in the case of a company, through a corporate culture of giving time and resources:
People's Choice Navigator Award for significant leadership in the local or regional entrepreneurial high tech community:
Red Apple Award for inspiring and preparing students to embrace the possibilities of technology - this award included a $2,500 technology in education grant made possible by ExploreLearning and Garris and Company.

New Crowdfunding Site Allows Public to Advance U.Va. Research Projects
U.Va. Innovation launched the University of Virginia's first crowdfunding website this week, enabling alumni and others to make targeted, tax-deductible donations in support of specific research and development projects under way at the University. MORE

(ICAP), a program of the Virginia Small Business Development Center Network, offers free Client Market Assessments to participating entrepreneurs commercializing innovations in Clean Technologies, Modeling & Simulation and Biometrics.
