PENTECOST SUNDAY!

PENTECOST 2024

In celebration of Pentecost wear red this Sunday! No red? No problem, wear orange or burgundy or melon or yellow-all shades of flame!

At the 10 am service the Gospel will be read in English then, read in unison in Anglo-Saxon, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Telugu. Join us to share the spirit!

PENTECOST PICNIC!

Right after the 10 am service join us for a Pentecost Picnic!

Emmanuel will provide the picnic food...grilled hot dogs, hamburgers (beef & veggie), slaw, potato salad, chips and a giant cake and Ted Drewes. And we'll have water and lemonade.

All you have to do is show up, maybe bring a blanket or chair. A few tables and chairs will be set up outside. And best of all, the weather forecast is excellent for Sunday!

TWO SPECIAL EVENTS COMING UP...

Emmanuel is hosting a Pride Prayer Service on Sunday, June 2 at 5 pm.

June 1 marks the beginning on Pride Month. Many in the LGBTQIA+ community had been hurt by the church. We will acknowledge and lament that hurt and pray for reconciliation and accepting love with and for all of God's people. The service is open to the public.

On a different note: The Episcopal Church (TEC) released today a new Pride logo. Click here for an explanation of the Episcopal Shield and scroll down to see the new Pride logo.

Sunday, June 9 Emmanuel will join with Churches Together for Justice, Moms Demand Action, The Ethics Project and The Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery Public Witness Team to sponsor a Gun Violence Prevention March and Rally.

The walk registration will begin at 11:30 at Webster Groves Presbyterian church where there will be information tables, signs to carry and a place to sit while gathering. The march will proceed east on Lockwood to Emmanuel where Bishop Deon Johnson will be the main speaker. At Emmanuel there will be information tables, outdoor chairs and refreshments. We expect the rally to start at Emmanuel around 1:30 pm. For a complete schedule, click here or click the image.

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with set up and refreshments. If you can be here and help a bit, please contact Mimi Shipp or Margaret Rowe.

WHAT'S UP @EEC...

SUNDAY LEGO ART!

Is that the cutest picture ever? Anyone can take a pic of creation happening with or without the creative talent in the pic!

We encourage parents or anyone to take photos of the creations and email them to us. We will start a LEGO ART GALLERY on the bulletin board by the food center so kids and others can admire their work! Please email to Mimi Shipp.

Several of you have asked Valori† about her recent trip to Ireland. She shared her photos and descriptions in a video for those who'd like to see them!

The June 2 and June 9 events are both part of the Faith in Action Pillar for Justice and Equity. And there is a third event we wish to encourage you to know about, participate in and be aware of in our community. The Together StL Racial Unity Week.

Racial Unity week is June 15-22 and there will be several events that week, including a 5K run in University City. Together StL is asking Christians and all Christian faith communities to focus on oneness and unity that week.
