It's the week before Christmas and there are deadlines, read below for details!

JOY is the word for Advent III or Gaudete Sunday. The term Gaudete is derived from the Latin opening words of the introit antiphon, “Rejoice (Gaudete) in the Lord always.” The theme of the day expresses the joy of anticipation at the approach of the Christmas celebration. This custom is reflected by the practice of including a pink or rose-colored candle among the four candles of an Advent wreath and pink vestments.

Hanging of the Greens

Immediately after the 10 am service we will start "Hanging of the Greens"!

There are tables in the chapel with wreaths, roping and bows and all have instructions on where they go. We need a few "ladder-able" folks to help with greens at the balcony!

This is a whole church family thing! And it goes fast! Read below for what's going on at the same time...

Also after the service, outside as you leave will be the diocesan JustFood truck serving Italian wedding soup and PBJ and baloney sandwiches. This is a sampling of the soup & sandwiches they will be serving regularly. The food on Sunday is a free will offering and they hope some of you will grab some food and also donate!!

Acolytes, you will be given a "ticket" to turn in if you eat. We'll retrieve your tickets and make a contribution.

The truck will shortly begin distributing free food in the low income areas of south city, north city and downtown at Christ Church Cathedral. The Rev. Deacon Barbi Click will be around the truck to answer any questions you have about this new ministry.

And yes, when it's not in use, it is in our parking lot! Use one of the QR Codes all over the truck to donate! If any youth or adult would like to help inside the truck to take orders on Sunday, please email Mimi Shipp.

GIVING UPDATE

Yay! We are inching our way to the finish line! Pledges to date are at 79% of our goal for the number of pledges and at 93% of our financial goal. Each pledge makes a difference for sure.

If you wish to pledge online, you may use this link for an online pledge card. We will also have a QR code in the bulletins linked to the online pledge card. We, of course, will accept a pledge at any time during the year, but at this time, pledging allows us to budget for 2024.

FYI...Women of Emmanuel will be raffling off a quilt from Harvest Wind LLC.

That's right! We purchased a Lakota Star quilt from Harvest Wind LLC to raffle off staring in January. We'll tell you more about Harvest Wind and Emmanuel's relationship with them later in December.

And we'll show you a pic of the quilt we'll be raffling!

Taizé on New Year's Eve

You are invited to attend a very special candlelit service on New Year's Eve at 5 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis.

Join Confluence: A Center for Spirituality for prayers, scripture reading, and chants in the style of Taizé. And this year Deacon Jerre will be the cantor!

Stay for refreshments and a toast to the new year after the service. All are welcome!

Our building is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Please call or email us for more information about any of our offerings.
