E-News: Updated Timeline -Physiological Consequences of Strangulation

Dear Friends,

We are delighted to welcome you to another edition of the Strangulation Prevention E-News. In this issue, we are thrilled to share that the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention's Medical Committee has joined efforts to update the Physiological Consequences of Strangulation Timeline. This one-page Seconds to Minutes graphic timeline shows the physiological consequences of strangulation due to occlusion of arterial blood flow.

UPDATED TIMELINE

We would like to recognize Dr. Bill Smock, Dr. Sean Dugan, Dr. Bill Green, Dr. Ralph Riviello, Ruth Carter, Marisol Martinez, and Ashley Peck, for their commitment and thorough research in the creation of the original timeline.

We had the opportunity to host Dr. Bill Smock during our monthly Facebook Live sessions. Dr. Smock offered invaluable insights, providing a comprehensive explanation of the various time stages featured on the timeline.

We encourage each of you to share these resources with your partners and spread the information throughout your respective communities. We would like to remind you that our Institute team continues to work together to create resources that are made available for you. All existing Strangulation Prevention resources can be found in our extensive Resource Library.

The Training Institute thanks you for your dedication to advancing victim safety, health and well-being. Your commitment to go above and beyond for strangled patients and effectively implementing best practices within your community, serves as a constant source of inspiration for us.

Always with great HOPE,

Gael, Casey, Joe, Fernanda, Jessica, and Jill
