MDA Dental Task Force on Truth and Reconciliation

Header image

Dear Member,

As part of our commitment to improving the oral health of all Manitobans, we are committed to understanding and meeting the needs of Indigenous patients and professionals, in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada called on us, as health care providers, business owners, and citizens, to ensure that Indigenous people have the same access, quality of care and standard of oral health, and the same opportunities to participate in our profession.

Indigenous people and communities have gaps in oral health outcomes and have less access to quality oral health services. They are also underrepresented in the dental health profession. The Manitoba Dental Association as the regulatory body, and our members as health care providers, have a responsibility to address and close these gaps.

We embrace the opportunity to take action that will improve our relationships with Indigenous communities, lift industry standards and improve recruitment and retention of Indigenous staff.

If you are interested in joining the Dental Task Force on Truth and Reconciliation, we invite you to share your contact information.
