STC Product Additions, Upcoming Aircraft Approvals, and Direct Purchase and Installation

Hello from Seattle!

If you didn't make it to AirVenture last month, we have a lot to tell you about. In the coming weeks and months, we expect to receive STC approval for additional aircraft models, including the Beechcraft Bonanza and Piper Seneca. We're also adding product capability to the existing STC which covers Cessna 172 models. To help you plan, we now publish our projected aircraft approvals out through the middle of next year (and if your aircraft is not yet on the schedule, please make sure to tell us about your aircraft model so that we can prioritize it.)

Also, in response to the overwhelming interest we've had from aircraft owners anxious to get started, we’re announcing a new way to purchase and install Dynon Certified products immediately while we establish our installation network. Please read on for more detail. Thanks for your interest!

Upcoming STC Product Additions

At AirVenture Oshkosh 2018, we demonstrated some new capabilities that are coming to the C172 approval in the coming weeks (depicted in the image above). The initial C172 STC already includes most of the Dynon product line, but we are about to add some of the remaining frequently-requested product options. These include:

Second display option (7” or 10” SkyView HDX display)
Dynon COM Radio
Dedicated Knob Control Panel
Dedicated Autopilot Control Panel

Upcoming Aircraft Approvals

As we expand our STC’s approved model list, we are now publishing the aircraft that we project will be approved through mid next year. Note that some of these aircraft will have product elements approved in phases, and our plan continues into 2019 and beyond with even more aircraft.

Note that this is our projected schedule: The timeline of certification projects of any type with the FAA are beyond any company’s direct control.

The Beechcraft Bonanza V35B will be the first aircraft to be added to the Dynon Certified model list, with approval expected Q4 2018. It includes all of the new product additions described above, and also adds a yaw damper to take care of the Bonanza's well known tail happiness. Additional variants of the Bonanza are expected to be approved Q1 2019.

Piper Seneca

The Piper Seneca is also slated for Q4 2018 approval. The Seneca installation adds a 3rd SkyView HDX display for optimal monitoring of the aircraft's twin engines.

Direct Purchase and Installation

As we build our installation network for Dynon Certified products, we are committed to some distinct goals for the program that we think you’ll appreciate: 1) a high quality installation, 2) an affordable installation, and 3) an excellent customer experience. To that end, we are currently building our network of Authorized Dynon Installation Centers .

We realize that many of you are anxious for a Dynon Certified system, may not be near one of our initial installation centers, or may prefer not to wait for an available slot for installation. As an alternative path, aircraft owners may purchase the Certified SkyView HDX system and the STC Authorization directly from Dynon and arrange for installation themselves at a qualified installer.

At the time of purchase, the owner must nominate a qualified installer – either an A&P/IA or an avionics repair station – who will perform the installation. That installer will be specifically identified on the STC Permission Statement. The aircraft owner will contract directly with the installer for all labor related to the installation, including fabrication and finishing of the new instrument panel.

Installers selected by the aircraft owner in this way will be supported by Dynon’s highly regarded technical support staff and backed by our industry-leading 3-year warranty. The installer will be directly responsible to the aircraft owner for a problem-free installation and warranty of their work.
