Cevdet Alemdar has been appointed chief executive officer of Brisa Bridgestone Sabanci. He started in this role on 15 May, succeeding Yigit Gurcay, who had held this position since August 2015.

According to local media source Mediafax, Continental intends to hire an additional 1,500 workers in Romania during 2017. The company, which operates plants and R&D centres at six sites within the country, including a tyre factory in Timișoara, is primarily looking to employ software specialists.

More than 350 firefighters are battling a blaze in a warehouse belonging to German wholesaler Reifen Gundlach. Our sister publication Neue Reifenzeitung reports that the fire began in the early hours of this morning, and firefighters are expected to remain at the scene until this evening.
Mitas in partnership with Russian agricultural equipment company, Rostselmash, organized an initiative aimed at raising awareness of the unique ecosystem of Lake Baikal in Russia. In March 2017, in collaboration with National Geographic Magazine, a photo and video session was held at the frozen Baikal Lake.

The recently agreed extension with CSG (Cleansing Service Group - one of the largest privately owned waste management companies in the UK) sees Bandvulc continue to manage their fleet via BVPLUS+. Bandvulc has been involved with CSG for the past 8 years and this latest deal sees BVPLUS+ continue to manage their fleet of commercial vehicles for the next three years.
The world's first commercial road and air legal flying car has gone on sale, but with a hefty price tag. Dutch manufacturer PAL-V has revealed details of the PAL-V Liberty, a concept that first debuted in 2012. It costs around £425,000, more expensive than 26 Ford Fiestas. The price of the flying car includes flight instruction sessions, power heating and other personalisation options.
Frost & Sullivan expects automotive OEMs, start-ups, aerospace companies and other players to make significant investments in the flying cars market and showcase their prototypes in the next 10 years. Flying cars are poised to usher in a whole host of new business services by 2035, including aerial sightseeing services, air surveillance as a service, aerial critical aid delivery, air taxi pay-per-ride, and flying car corporate lease.
As the nation speculates about what leaving Europe will mean for the country, a new study for Kwik Fit, the UK's leading automotive servicing and repair company, has found that 57 per cent of UK motorists (21.5 million) expect Brexit to cause the price of new cars to increase. 6.5 million drivers (17 per cent) predict that prices will increase significantly, whereas only 3 per cent believe Brexit will bring about lower prices.
UFC has announced a multi-year partnership with General Tire, which will serve as the "Official Tyre Partner of the UFC" in the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership will begin on Saturday 17 June with UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Correia at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
