Dune Vegetation Trimming and Maintenance

Trimming will begin between 25 - 44 streets

Project Overview and Benefits

Coastal dunes are an invaluable asset to coastal communities like Miami Beach. A healthy dune system keeps our beaches healthy, minimizes beach erosion rates, and protects coastal infrastructure and upland properties from storm damage.

What's Happening

This project will be led by city-contracted personnel, Treesources, LLC. Work will take place on the east side of the dunes adjacent to the emergency lane at specific locations between 25–44 Streets.

Locations: 25, 29, 31, 34, 43, and 44 streets

The work includes spot trimming of the existing dune vegetation in the dune crossovers in accordance with the City’s Dune Management Plan to create more visibility for Ocean and Fire Rescue emergency vehicles utilizing the emergency lane east of the dunes.

Timeline

Dune trimming will begin on Wednesday, August 28. The trimming is expected to be completed within three weeks of the start date. Crews will be on site in the 2500 to 4400 block of the beach and beachwalk with the tools and machinery necessary for the work.

Please know that this schedule may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Moderate levels of noise are expected during work.
  • Machinery and workers will be present on the job site.
  • Access will be provided for beachgoers during these operations.
