Telethon Raises $60,000 in Support of Mobile's Oldest Community Center!

Dumas Wesley Community Center's inaugural telethon was a tremendous success! Special thanks to Media Sponsor, WKRG, Corporate Sponsor, Poarch Band of Creek Indians, and the generous donors who helped the agency reach its $60,000 goal! Proceeds from the telethon will support the Center’s flagship programs, benefitting local youth, senior citizens and women and children experiencing homelessness. “We’re extremely pleased that we were able to partner with the Dumas Wesley Community Center to help raise money for such a worthwhile cause and raise awareness of their mission," said Jesse Grear, Vice President & General Manager of WKRG. "Dumas Wesley helps so many people in so many ways and is a perfect example of an organization that cares about our community and gives hope to so many," said Grear.

The Band of Poarch Creek Indians generously agreed to match every donation made during the telethon, dollar for dollar, up to $30,000. "The Poarch Creek Indians are committed to supporting organizations that share our values and goals of empowering communities," said Stephanie A. Bryan, Poarch Creek Indians Tribal Chair and CEO. "Our partnership with Dumas Wesley allows us to amplify our collective impact, providing essential resources to those in need and ensuring that our contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of others."

In 2023, the Dumas Wesley Community Center deployed 343,238 direct services to our neighbors in need (a 12% increase from 2022). Click here to learn more about the Dumas Wesley Community Center.
