Rugby Star Visit
It was pleasure to host Rugby legend Zinzan Brooke this past weekend here at Dreamland Golf Club.  The former New Zealand rugby union star is regarded as one of the best rugby players of all time, playing 58 tests for New Zealand, and 42 non-international matches for the All Blacks. In Baku for the Tisa Titans Annual Rugby Ball, Zinzan enjoyed his round with members Bryan Thomas, Nick Hore and John Quinn with support from Les Thomas and Sean Quinn as caddies. Creating a lasting memory of golf in Baku he narrowly missed a gross EAGLE on the 18th hole after comfortably making the green in 2 shots. We hope to see him again in Baku for another game!
On Tour in Turkey
We were delighted to see our members past and present enjoying a Golf Reunion in Turkey last week. Gathering in Belek the families of the Paterson’s, Reid’s, Walker’s, McFadden’s & the Garnham’s enjoyed golf at the Nobilis, The Pasha, The Sultan, The National and Regnum Carya. Feedback on the courses and hotels has been fantastic so we hope to see the group enjoy future trips together.

Early Tee Off’s
Taking in feedback from the membership, our maintenance team are committed to setting the course up early so we can provide FAST round tee times on weekends. Available from Saturday 1st of June the first tee time will be 7.30am as we look to get getting quicker groups around the course in under 4 hours. We will still reserve 3 hours each morning for members and member guest times however based on feedback we have the following brackets and time guidelines.
** whilst we appreciate that members may wish to walk the course we also understand that due to the heat faster groups should be allowed to move ahead. In creating these tee slots we hope it will ensure the course remains ahead of the pace of play target for the first 1 ½ hours each weekend day.

Saturday 4th of May 2019 – Saturday Roll Up Results
Windy playing conditions did not prevent 26 players to participate in last week’s Saturday Roll Up. Winner was Paul Winkle with 2 under par 38 points. There was a tie for second place with David Lawson and Iain Grant all scoring 2 over par 34 points. It required us to look at their back nine scores. After countback David took second place with 15pts vs. Ian’s 14 inward points which were enough for him to take third place. Last Saturday’s only 2 came from Andrew Hulston, thanks to his birdie on 10th hole.
On Course Update by Martin McGavock
We are now in full swing into the 2019 season with the course maintenance. Recovery from spring renovations and cultural work was rapid and surfaces are in very good condition. We keep the course looking fresh with new supplies each year and 2019 is no different with, new pins, flags and smarty reflectors to easily find your distance to the pin via a range finder. The bell on the 12th hole has had a new lease of life with a bell rope arriving from abroad. Not an easy find on the Baku Market! Please make sure to give it a ding dong after you’ve finished up on the 12th green.
We are also keen to implement innovative touches like the bunker stamp below which you may see now imprinted in certain bunkers around the course. It looks great, and it sends a gentle reminder to please rake your bunker footprints as you leave the bunker, to respects fellow members and guests by avoiding leaving pitted areas and footprints for those who next play from the bunker. A couple of our top Greenkeepers are pictured here too: From the left – Etibar and Balaga. They along with the rest of the Agronomy team do a tough job with daily raking and constantly fixing sand depths altered by wind, to keep the bunkers in good shape.
Another new touch on course are the broken tee bins pictured below. We would appreciate if all members and guests place broken tees in these bins to keep our tee surface clean and tidy. It helps us and keeps a tidy image on course. The bins can be found at all white and green tees, and each all tee boxes of par 3 holes. Please do continue to also use the wooden bins at each tee complex provided for regular garbage.

Ping Demo Day
On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May Dreamland shall be welcoming Ping representatives from Dubai to provide you the opportunity to trial or be custom fit for the latest Ping clubs. The recently released G410 series has already proven a big success making its way into many of the world’s longest hitters bags including Tony Finau, Bubba Watson and Cameron Champ. Equally, if you struggle with a slice, the PING G410 SFT needs to be on your short list. The draw biased driver produces more left-side bias than any other driver recently tested by Mygolfspy. Also noteworthy, it produced the tightest dispersion of any model in the same test. mygolfspy.com/2019-most-wanted-driver/ To book an appointment please contact Head Professional Alex Day on E: alex.day@dreamlandgolfclub.com  M: +994 55 333 0507
