Staff Survey

In order to better understand the workings of our team in faraway Cambodia we conducted first ever CCDO Staff Survey. The survey was anonymous so the staff were able to give honest opinions and suggestions for improvements. In a culture where open criticism is not acceptable and deference to authority is a given the survey is an important step. The results have led to clearing the air with some managerial issues and a change in some policies. On the positive side the survey showed that most people are proud of the work they are doing for the organization and plan to stay with us for foreseeable future.

Child’s Dream Presentation

Some years ago we realized there was a non-profit organization with a similar name to ours : Child’s Dream Cambodia. We connected and for the past few years, Child’s Dream Cambodia has been funding some of our education programs. For two years now, they have funded the English Literacy Training project at Battambang Provincial Teacher Training College. Our CCDO team gave a presentation to their large visiting team which consisted of country directors from Cambodia, Thailand and Laos and their regional director. They were duly impressed with our work on the ground and the accomplishments their funding afforded brand new Cambodian teachers.

Here is a link to the presentation.

TWCCTW Dental Grant

We are ever so grateful to Steve Tilliss of Together We Can Change the World for continuing to support our Dental Program. Steve and Scott Friedman were in Siem Reap with their group in January and saw how important it was to keep the kids smiles bright and their teeth healthy. Supplying toothbrushes and toothpaste to 20,000 students while continuously promoting dental hygiene and funding dental treatments is helping to keep away the cavities.

iPhone4Charity Fundraiser

Sharing her talents for iPhone photography (see her blog crazyparentstravel.com and Instagram @crazyparentstravel) our VP Ksenija Olmer decided to design a series of workshops for friends and neighbors. 3 hour long small group hands on workshops are based on $90 donation to CCDO. It is a win-win for everyone.

Do you have a skill or knowledge that you might be able to use to bring awareness and donations for our cause? Are you a knitter, tennis player, jam maker, smart investor, yoga lover? We are happy to give you support if you want to organize a charity workshop.

Donors

We are grateful to Jenn Forney, Board Member, who deferred her consultant fee so that Tony Bendana of Cheese Steak Shop could generously donate $4,000 towards our Education Program. Through the years, Jenn and her family have found many creative ways to contribute funds to our organization. Thank you, Jenn, you are a treasure!

World Literacy Day

Tapang Primary School held a World Literacy Day event. During the celebration, Mr. Prean Brop, the Ampil commune chief thanked CCDO for promoting and supporting education projects in Tapang primary and secondary schools, especially providing scholarship to many students to continue higher education and becoming a good human resource for the next generation and development of the country.
