Greetings from

Dranesville Supervisor James N. Bierman, Jr.

Dear Neighbor,

It’s that time of year again … McLean Day is back! If you are new to the area or haven’t been in the past, McLean Day is produced by the McLean Community Center and is a wonderful event that draws approximately 10,000 people for rides, music, food, games, exhibits (including a Dranesville Supervisor tent – stop by and see us!) and lots of fun activities for kids including balloon animals, a magician, a petting zoo, and more. Friday evening (from 2pm – 10pm) is your chance to enjoy the carnival rides and games before the festival. And Saturday is the big day! You can also vote in the McLean Community Center Governing Board Election on either Friday, May 17, from 4pm to 8pm or on Saturday, May 18, from 11am to 5pm. You can learn more about the candidates here.

McLean Day will be held at Lewinsville Park, 1659 Chain Bridge Road. See below for details, including information about the convenient shuttle buses. It’s a great community celebration and I hope to see you there!

I also want to take a moment to recognize that May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and celebrate the many contributions and diverse cultures and histories of Americans of Asian and Pacific descent. Asian and Pacific Islanders make up over twenty percent of Fairfax County’s population and help make our County such an amazing place to live. If you want to learn more about some of these diverse cultures, check out book recommendations for kids, teens and adults or attend one of these upcoming library events. Fairfax County has also launched a Korean-language Instagram account – please share it with anyone who might be interested.

Hope to see you out and about this weekend!

All the best,

Jimmy
