Our stewardship project for this month will focus on developing compassion for those who are ill. In advance of childhood cancer awareness month in September, we continue to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Our very own Dragon, Alexander, continues to receive cancer treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please keep Alexander and his family in your prayers.
Why we choose to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital:
- St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer.
-
No family ever receives a bill from St. Jude – not for treatment, travel, housing, or food. St. Jude wants the family to focus on the health of the child.
- Currently over 900 active patients from Louisiana are under the care of St. Jude. The impact of the St. Jude Baton Rouge Affiliate Clinic at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health is felt throughout the community making it possible for some patients to receive treatment locally.
- All research is shared freely with doctors and hospitals throughout the world. Any local hospital can utilize the treatments and protocols developed at St. Jude.
Dates for our “Sock It to Childhood Cancer” Stewardship Project:
Monday, August 21 - Thursday, August 31
St. George students are invited to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by donating $1 to wear any silly socks on the day of our very own St. Jude Walk - Thursday, August 31 in the gym beginning at 7:20 - 7:40 am. Thank you for helping St. George School “sock it to childhood cancer".
