Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

This past Friday, Father Yi introduced this year's school theme, growing in wisdom, to our students while our parents learned about the theme at parent orientation.

Wisdom enables us to make good judgements and decisions. St. Thomas Aquinas teaches us how to gain wisdom by following these four steps: Listen willingly, seek diligently, respond prudently, and meditate attentively. We will work on growing in wisdom this year by practicing these four steps in our faith lives, our social lives, and our academic lives.

Please join us in growing in wisdom by incorporating the theme in your family lives.

Stewardship Project - Sock It To Childhood Cancer

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Our stewardship project for this month will focus on developing compassion for those who are ill. In advance of childhood cancer awareness month in September, we continue to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Our very own Dragon, Alexander, continues to receive cancer treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please keep Alexander and his family in your prayers.

Why we choose to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital:

  • St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer.
  •  No family ever receives a bill from St. Jude – not for treatment, travel, housing, or food. St. Jude wants the family to focus on the health of the child.
  • Currently over 900 active patients from Louisiana are under the care of St. Jude. The impact of the St. Jude Baton Rouge Affiliate Clinic at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health is felt throughout the community making it possible for some patients to receive treatment locally.
  • All research is shared freely with doctors and hospitals throughout the world. Any local hospital can utilize the treatments and protocols developed at St. Jude.

Dates for our “Sock It to Childhood Cancer” Stewardship Project:

Monday, August 21 - Thursday, August 31

St. George students are invited to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by donating $1 to wear any silly socks on the day of our very own St. Jude Walk - Thursday, August 31 in the gym beginning at 7:20 - 7:40 am. Thank you for helping St. George School “sock it to childhood cancer".

Another way to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is by joining our team,

Dragons for St. Jude - All for Alexander,

for the St. Jude Walk/Run in Baton Rouge on Saturday, September 30.

Child Nutrition Program Notes

A note from Child Nutrition:

  • We would like to encourage parents to make lunch accounts, https://www.myschoolbucks.com/, so that they can see what their children are buying in the cafeteria every day.
  • On Friday, August 18, we will start selling ice cream. We will only be selling to the students that have their lunch cards with them in the cafeteria.
  • Within the next week or so, we will be adding the goldfish crackers.

Please remember:

  • Meal Payments: NO cash will be accepted beginning this school year. However, checks and

money orders will be accepted. Parents are encouraged to create an online meal account at

www.myschoolbucks.com. Click here for a quick guide on how to use the My School Apps website.

  • Student Meal Prices for Paying Students:

Breakfast $2.75 (Elem)

Lunch $3.55 (Elem)

Please note that according to the LA. School Food Service Policy Guidance Manual, outside restaurant food and soft drinks are not allowed in the school cafeteria. Your compliance is appreciated and necessary.

Important Carpool Notes

  • Students should not be hanging out of windows or sunroofs in the carpool line.
  • Please display the school-provided (orange or blue) carpool sign from a visor or rear view mirror to assist teachers with visibility. A pants hanger with clips make a great sign holder.
