WORCESTER, MA - The Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District (BID) and Perrone Landscaping are excited to announce the Downtown Worcester Winter Festiva, taking place Saturday, February 18, from 1 to 3pm on the Worcester Common. The festival will feature a variety of activities aimed at bringing the community together to enjoy Downtown Worcester, including ice skating on the Worcester Common Oval, curling, live ice carving demonstrations, art activities, local food, team mascots, a street performer, and more.

"We are thrilled to partner with Perrone Landscaping to bring the Downtown Worcester Winter Festival to the Worcester Common," said Evelyn Darling, Executive Director of the Downtown Worcester BID. "We have a fantastic lineup of fun, family-friendly, wintertime activities planned. From ice skating and curling to live ice carving demonstrations and more, there will be something for everyone at the festival.”

Festivalgoers are also encouraged to bring a donation for Woo Fridge, a mutual aid, community-maintained food justice project that works to organize free fridges throughout Worcester. The first 100 festival attendees who donate a canned good or non-perishable food item can ice skate for free and enjoy a complimentary cookie and hot chocolate courtesy of Brew on the Grid and Worcester Beer Garden. (Skate rental: $5/person)

"Woo Fridge is a wonderful organization that empowers folks in our community to support each other by providing free, 24/7 access to food with fridges located across the city – including one Downtown right on Portland Street,” said Darling. “We’re proud to support Woo Fridge by accepting donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items during the Downtown Worcester Winter Festival. We invite everyone who is able to bring along a donation. If you're looking for an idea of what to donate, some highly requested items include: cooking oil, flour, sugar, coffee, tea, cereals, boxed sides, drinks, chips, granola bars, and snacks.”

While festival activities will be focused on Worcester Common, there are also several other Downtown events and amenities to explore close to the event, including:
