Happy July! We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend and found time to relax, recharge and re-energize with loved ones. 


Summer is the busiest time of year in downtown Boulder, from Wednesday evening Bands on the Bricks concerts and the return of the Pearl Street Arts Festival July 15 - 17 to the annual Summer Sidewalk Sales that start July 22. Check out our Things To Do Downtown blog to stay up to date with all the activities that make summertime so magical.


July is also Independents Month, and we join the American Independent Business Alliance in celebrating all the locally owned and operated businesses downtown (almost 400 of them)! Keep reading to learn more about some of your favorite independent stores downtown.

Pearl Street Arts Festival

The Pearl Street Arts Festival is BACK after a two-year hiatus! The 42nd Arts Fest will showcase the talents of 93 artists in a variety of mediums. Festivities kick off with a 14th Street Artist Preview on Friday, July 15 from 3 - 8 pm. Saturday, July 16 the event runs from 10 am - 7 pm and it continues Sunday, July 17 from 10 am - 5 pm.


Admission to the festival itself is FREE. Every Saturday and Sunday, City of Boulder Parking Garages are also free. 


Artists hail from all over Colorado, plus 19 other states and Canada. View the full list of exhibitors here


While downtown, be sure to peruse local art galleries as well as the Boulder Alley Gallery. Bringing kids along? Check out our list of children's activities sure to entertain everyone in your group!

Bands on the Bricks 2022


June 15 - August 3, 5:30 - 9:00 pm

The Bands on the Bricks summer concert series continues TONIGHT (July 6)! Enjoy free live music while sipping beer, wine or margaritas from our Beer Garden (1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall). Festivities begin at 5:30 pm every Wednesday through August 3.


Tonight kicks off with opener Roscoe Maudlin Band featuring Clay Anderson starting at 6 pm, followed by a fan favorite, The Long Run - "Colorado's Tribute to the Eagles." The Long Run reproduces the Eagles' hits with an organic 70's sound, accurate lead guitarists, multi-instrumentalists and a lead-singing drummer. You don't want to miss this concert!


Don't forget to come back on July 13 to hear Titonic! Next week is also Neighborhood Night. Come be a part of creating Downtown Boulder's Five-Year Vision Plan. Share your ideas and participate in a variety of activities.

July is Independents Month, a time to celebrate and uplift all the independent businesses that make our Boulder community so strong. Did you know that downtown Boulder is home to almost 400 local business? Thanks to the hard work of so many individuals, our community is one of creativity, resilience and independence.


There is a person behind your favorite cup of coffee, a story about your local bookstore and a journey that led to the opening of an iconic footwear shop. Tube to Work Day

It's almost the best day of the year - Tube to Work Day! On Friday, July 15, grab an inner tube and ditch your car as you ride the Boulder Creek to work.


Online registration is open ($20/individual with $5 of your entry going directly to Boulder Bridge House)! There is also a Corporate Group Rate registration option.


Waivers, helmets, life jackets and closed-toed footwear are mandatory. This is also BYOT: a "bring your own tube" event. Costumes are highly encouraged!

Arts in the Park + Opera in the Park

Arts in the Park supports local performing arts organizations by clearing barriers to access the Civic Area. The City of Boulder sponsors signature performances from local organizations including the Boulder Ballet, Boulder Opera, Boulder Symphony and Boulder Philharmonic with tickets that are just $10 for adults and $5 for youth (17 and under). Plus, discover many more happenings throughout the summer (including some that are free)!


Looking for even more art in the Civic Area? Enjoy Opera in the Park at the Boulder Bandshell this July 29 and 30. This family-friendly concert performed by the Boulder Opera explores the eras of opera, tracing it back to the 16th century, classical period and romantic period all the way to the contemporary era. Tickets are $10 per person - doors open 6:30 pm.
