September 2022
Happy Labor Day! Our stores will be open regular hours on Monday, Sept. 5.
Photo of the Month
On a recent evening, Danza, Bizzy, Beige, and Salute joined their herdmates outside for some sunset socializing. Because of dairy cows' thick skin and insulating coarse hair, they prefer cooler weather. So as evening temperatures begin to drop, signaling summer's end, these ladies enjoy spending more time relaxing outdoors.

See more of our merry milkmaids during our Hands-On tours at 3:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Reservations are required. Tour season ends Oct. 31!

Treat of the Month
September's treat of the month captures that cozy coffee flavor with a cool, sweet twist!

Our Coffee Cookie Cooler starts with a scoop each of Coffee and Cookies & Cream ice creams blended with Hansen's rich and creamy chocolate milk. We top it off with whipped cream, cookie pieces and a cherry.

This java-mocha delight is available at both stores for just $3.99.
Pizza of the Month
Our September Papa D's Pizza of the Month is a nod to a classic sandwich, but we've leveled it up with some Wagyu wow!

Our Philly Cheesesteak Pizza features a fresh crust slathered with cheddar cheese sauce. Then we layer it with Hansen's Wagyu-Holstein sirloin, green peppers and onions, and top it off with gooey mozzarella cheese.

Perfect for a quick dinner or any game day gathering, a large 14-inch Philly Cheesesteak Pizza is available all month long at our Cedar Falls store for just $19.99.
Down on the Farm Breakfast
After a two-year hiatus, the Down on the Farm Breakfast is back!

Enjoy a bounty of local food and farm activities during this family-friendly and traditionally sold-out event.

It takes place Saturday, Sept. 17, at Hansen’s Dairy Tour Center, 8461 Lincoln Rd., Hudson. There will be two serving times: 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The farm-to-table menu includes breakfast burritos, featuring eggs from Groothuis Farm, Nashua; Edgewood Locker sausage; Hansen’s Dairy cheese curds; Litteaur Produce peppers, Waterloo; and Kramer's Salsa, Camanche. Served on the side are apple slices from Apples on the Avenue in Nashua and fresh bread from Rustic Hearth Bakery in Cedar Rapids slathered with Hansen's Dairy butter, Clear Creek Orchard jam from Collins or Wildflower Acres Honey from Waterloo. Wash it down with coffee from Fat Cup Coffee in Waterloo; apple cider from Wilson’s Orchard in Iowa City; and, of course, Hansen’s milk!

Tickets are limited and MUST be purchased online at hansendairy.com before the event; tickets will not be sold in stores or at the breakfast. Tickets are $15 for adults 13 and older, $8 for children ages 4 to 12, and children 3 and younger are free.
Back-to-school lunches & snacks
School is back in session in the Cedar Valley, and that means sack lunches and snacks on hand for hungry learners and after-school athletes.

Hansen’s Dairy products help start the school year off right.

For breakfast, Hansen’s whole milk by the glass or poured over cereal keeps kids fuller longer. Add your favorite fruit for a nutrient boost.

Need to pack a nutritious lunch? Hansen's Dairy stores are chock full of healthy, local options for sack lunches and after-school snacks, including string cheese, cheese curds, yogurt, beef sticks and much more.

Did you know chocolate milk helps refuel athletes after a big workout? Stock your refrigerator with our 1% Chocolate Milk for your kids to enjoy after practice.
Grab a sub sandwich at our Cedar Falls store
Hungry? Hangry? Just a case of the munchies? Off the shelf or made to order, Hansen's sub sandwiches are just the fix.

We start with fresh-baked white or wheat bread, then add a variety of meats, cheeses and veggies.

Try one of these delicious subs from our menu:
  • Turkey Club
  • Roast Beef Club
  • Club Combo
  • Italian
  • Ham & Turkey Club
  • Chicken Bacon Ranch
  • Roast Beef & Cheddar
  • Turkey & Swiss

Or, have your sub built to suit you. The possibilities are endless. Want it toasted? We can do that, too!

Sub sandwiches are available at our Cedar Falls store.
Customer of the Month
Our September Customer of the Month is Adam Hannan.

When Adam and his family moved to Iowa six years ago, they were introduced to Hansen's Dairy products at a sampling table we'd set up at a local grocery store.

"We were initially drawn to the table to see the baby kangaroo in a diaper. But after trying a sample of Hansen's milk, we left the store with a gallon to take home!" Adam says.

Now, one of the Hannan family's favorite summer activities is playing tennis at Byrnes Park and treating themselves afterward with ice cream from our Waterloo store.

"My kids try all the ice cream flavors, but for me it's hard to beat a vanilla shake," Adam says. "Also, every time my in-laws visit we send them home with some Hansen's cheese curds. They keep coming back. It may be to see their grandkids, or it may be for the cheese curds! We love to support local businesses and local farmers. And we really love tasty ice cream, cheese and milk."

Thanks, Adam! Customers of the Month receive a $5 gift certificate to use at our stores and two free hands-on tour passes to the farm (a $30 value). You could be chosen by filling out an entry form at our stores or through your comments on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Cow of the Month
Our September Cow of the Month is Abel, whose luscious red coat is the perfect autumn shade. Her fun white stripe from poll to nose is an adorable bonus!

But it's in the milking parlor where this beauty really stands out. She produced 28,000 pounds of milk in her first year milking -- 3,600 pounds more than her herdmates! You might say she's ready, willing and Abel. (We're big on puns around here, in case you haven't herd.)

September is a big month for Abel. In addition to Cow of the Month honors, she turns 3 years old on Sept. 16 and is due to have her second calf on Sept. 8.
