Too Young to Grieve? Children's Grief Awareness Day Webinar: Free to attend!

November 21, 2024

10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., PST

Children’s Grief Awareness Day is on November 21, 2024. To raise awareness around the needs of children who are grieving, Dougy Center will host an engaging webinar that is free for all to attend.

A common myth is that children may not be impacted like adults after a death. In fact, it's not uncommon to hear comments such as "They are too young to understand" when referring to children's experiences of loss. Join Dougy Center staff for this free webinar where we dispel myths and raise awareness about children's grief.

Dougy Center hosts the 2024 International Summer Institute

A warm thank you to all the attendees who joined us for this year’s annual International Summer Institute, July 22 to 26. We were delighted to offer this training to individuals interested in learning the basics about The Dougy Center Model so they could be equipped with the information and skills to implement peer grief support groups in their communities.

Through Dougy Center’s International Summer Institute, more than 500 organizations worldwide have learned The Dougy Center Model and have brought much needed peer grief support programs to children, teens, and families who are grieving.

“I'm grateful for how quickly and deeply we were able to develop community in this training. The opportunity to connect with others who are doing this work was so valuable.”

Is There a Cure for Grief? Learn more in this episode of Grief Out Loud

In this recent episode, Jana DeCristofaro, the host of Dougy Center’s podcast, Grief Out Loud, speaks with Cody Delistraty, a journalist whose mother died of cancer. These two parts of his identity intersect in his new book, The Grief Cure, which chronicles his quest to find a way to eliminate the pain of grief. After exploring Laughter Therapy, silent meditation, Breakup Bootcamp, and other avenues for grief expression, Cody landed where so many others do: realizing the cure for grief is allowing it to exist, while still engaging with life. You can find this episode, and many more, wherever you get your podcasts.
