Are more Homeowners Selling as Mortgage Rates Come Down?

If you’re looking to buy a home, the recent downward trend in mortgage rates is good news because it helps with affordability. But there’s another way this benefits you – it may inspire more homeowners to put their houses up for sale.

The Mortgage Rate Lock-In Effect
Over the past year, one factor that’s really limited the options for your move is how few homes were on the market. That’s because many homeowners chose to delay their plans to sell once mortgage here to read more.
Ashley Grace Builders, LLC, is excited to show you one of our latest construction projects on Lake Hopatcong, NJ. This lakefront home has a spectacular 180° view of the main lake area. The original home was built in 1945 with a contemporary renovation in 1980, still keeping the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The homeowners loved the location and wanted to turn this outdated home into their dream home.

The new plans for this home are adding approx 700 sq ft of living space, a oversized 2 car garage addition, modern kitchen with white shaker cabinets and stainless appliances, large lake view sliding doors, upgrades like Hardy Plank siding and Pennsylvania Fieldstone veneer and Trex decking for the new spacious deck that spans the entire back of the house and wraps around to the left side front entrance.

Stay tuned for the updated finished photos in late spring! You can see all our past and present home builds on the website under the projects tab:
The "Doug Talks..." section will be featured in our monthly real estate email
and will include articles and/or videos showcasing some aspect of
home improvement, construction, or design.

You may want to seriously consider building a new home

Are you putting off your plans to sell because you’re worried you won’t be able to find a home you like when you move? If so, it may be time to consider a newly built home and the benefits that come with one. Here’s why.

Near-Record Percentage of New Home Inventory
Newly built homes are becoming an increasingly significant part of today’s housing inventory. According to the most recent report from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB): “Newly built homes available for sale accounted for 31% of total homes available for sale in November, compared to an approximate 12% historical average.” That means the percentage of the total homes available to buy that are newly built is well over two times higher than the norm. And even more new homes are on the way. Recent data from the Census shows there’s been an uptick in both housing starts (where builders break ground on more new homes) and housing completions (homes where construction just wrapped). And while some people may worry builders are building too many here for full article.
