July sparks Miami Spa Month …… Power Push toward Wellness
Personally I love July and not just because it's my birth month…. it's also when we finalize our FSA summer events, this year at the Ocean Reef Club for the 5th time, which is a wonderful ride as we get to create an experience that our attendees will never forget. But mostly because Miami welcomes Spa Month starting in July through August. Spa Month marks the summer as being even hotter in Miami, not signifying the temperature. I'm referencing the many wonderful spa offerings and opportunities that are made available to the public by participating resorts in Miami. Florida, well-known for its world-class spas that rank among the "Best Spas in America" and favored by many spa enthusiasts offer impressive spa treatments starting in July. Plus boosting support for spa services during Spa Month also helps build revenue as business tends to slow down a bit during the hot summer months of July and August in South Florida.
These high-quality spas participating in Miami Spa Month provide exceptional opportunities that offer reasonably priced treatments for locals and guests by making it attractive for many, especially those on a budget, to take time out to indulge in the utmost standard of pampering and relaxation. As an Ambassador for Global Wellness Day, we endlessly support wellness and spa therapy, which provides physical, mental, and spiritual healing. This is crucial in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, promoting longevity and the key to a lifetime of well-being and is at the heart and soul of our industry. Providing spa services and wellness experiences make spa visits at this time of year very inviting and essential.
Our credo is to encourage our community and visitors to have the mindset and spirit to set wellness goals by eating well, drinking water and nourishing our body which is an essential message to staying healthy. This also includes relaxation as well as incorporating mindfulness, kindness and socialization having been proven to result in a positive impact both mentally and physically. An enhanced quality of physical and mental fitness is the fundamental answer to living well and a happy life.
Miami Spa Month is a power push toward wellness during the dog days of summer and visiting a spa is one hearty way to relax and get out of the heat to stay cool so that you can look hot!
Wishing Wellness

"Voice-It" Spa Talk with Mitchell

July is a great month for a lunar visit! I don’t suggest going there, instead, create an outdoor mindful event for your staff, members or guests. Wednesday July 13th is a Supermoon called the Buck Moon. It focuses on change in our lives and listening to our hearts, making it the perfect time to slow down and enjoy the moment. It is a reminder to remember the important things in life and just let the mind, body, and soul rest. Yoga, Tai Chi or meditation is a great group event outside for this evening with chocolate dipped strawberries. Every month's full moon has a history and influence over your life. And astrologers urge people to listen to it. It is also said that this month's full moon is a bit more persuasive as this is the biggest and brightest full moon of the year. Pick up a $200 gas fire pit from the Hardware store and have attendees write down something they want to release on a piece of paper and then throw it into the flames. You may even be tempted to cap off the evening with a S'mores buffet! Aside from a great night out, it’s a great time to go inward. Enjoy the journey!

The Florida Board of Massage Therapy will hold their next quarterly board meeting July 28-29 at the Marriott Orlando Airport Lakeside. If a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) attends for at minimum of
4 hours they will receive Continuing Education for 2 hours of Florida Laws and Rules and 2 hours of Professional Ethics.
The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) is putting forth efforts to create an Interstate Massage Compact. Interstate compacts provide the most effective means for achieving border-less practice for licensed practitioners and military spouses relieving the burdens of maintaining multiple state licenses. What this means is if an Interstate Massage Compact is adopted in Florida it could make achieving a Massage Therapy License in another state that joins the compact a much easier process.

Wincore Staffing Brings a Unique Background to
Spa Training and Staffing
|
|
Expert staffing solutions
Wincore Staffing is a diverse and privately held Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) with more than 50 years of combined experience training owners and members of Fortune 500 companies.
They are passionate about our mission to provide elite organizations with the most outstanding staff.
They have built a culture that attracts and retains the best talent in the industry. What makes Wincore Staffing unique? They train team members before they get on site. This includes Forbes “Best Practices” Hospitality Training plus luxury hotel and spa preparation.

Taking the leap from employee to business owner is not an easy one, but I felt I had more to offer the industry and it’s proven true!
My name is Shannon Dunavent-Leon and I’m the owner of Wincore Staffing.
The #1 problem faced by the spa industry is staffing and it’s our passion to solve it. But we don’t just accept any candidate. We want our clients and their customers to feel how deeply our team members value wellness. The more loyal and highly educated the therapist, the more likely they will form a long-term heart connection with the customer. It’s that unique ability which fosters a beautiful environment for all.
I spent over 30 years in the hospitality industry, working with Fortune 500 companies to staff hotel operational departments before deciding it was time to branch out and bring that same level of service to organizations of all sizes. Having specialized in spa staffing, I feel passionate about each and every one of our employees undergoing Forbes “Best Practices” Hospitality Training and luxury hotel and spa preparation before arriving onsite.
Being a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) is important to me. I wanted to create a diverse culture that attracts and retains the best talent in the industry. By offering employees the perks and benefits that I valued as an employee, I’ve created an environment where employees feel motivated to treat clients’ customers with the very best service.
Leadership is my life’s work. I believe we need more fresh and modern voices solving business challenges, my unique combination of training and staffing as an example, and it doesn’t end there. Taking chances fosters growth. Don’t be afraid to take the leap!

ACROSS THE SPA INDUSTRY, reports of a sharp rise in demand for spa services and treatments and weeks long waits for new appointments have many celebrating the industry’s recovery from the darkest days of 2020 and the pandemic-related restrictions that lingered well into last year. The industry’s relatively quick comeback has been amazing, and after the array of challenges and setbacks spa leaders worldwide have so brilliantly overcome, they have earned the right to feel optimistic. Appreciative spa-goers have returned to many spas in droves, ready to incorporate (or re-introduce) a higher level of wellness into their newfound routines. An outside observer would be forgiven for surveying the landscape described above and wondering, “So, what’s the issue here?”

Weekend Warriors May Get Same Overall
Health Benefits as Regular Exercisers
|
|
Experts say you can still achieve overall health benefits even if you work out only on weekends.
- Experts recommend that adults get at least 150 minutes of exercise per week.
- One or two longer workouts seem to provide similar health benefits as more numerous shorter workouts.
- It’s never too late to begin regularly exercising and reaping the health benefits.
In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week.
There seems to be universal agreement around this amount of exercise.

Going Green -
What's Good For The Planet Is Good For Business
|
|
If you live in the U.S. and relish grabbing a morning coffee on your way to work, the sleeve that stops your hand burning may well have been created by a manufacturing plant that recycles or composts 99% of its materials.
From paper and pallets to plastic wrap and metal, it gets recycled. And the sleeves themselves are made from 100% recycled material. “We’re not throwing anything in landfill – that’s what I love about it,” says plant manager, Chris Gibson.
Increasingly, businesses around the world are responding to a global imperative and consumer demand to go green. And more than 80% of people respect companies and brands that adopt Eco-friendly practices, according to an international survey.
