" Champions of Spa”… Inspirational Spa Leaders!
Our next event, “Hip City Vibes” is just around the corner and we are excited to host an event in Tampa and unite with our Florida West Coast Spas, a growing and thriving market. The FSA is pumped about this upcoming event and has been striving to make this an exceptional experience. Tampa is an ideal region, filled with business opportunities and our team is highly motivated to collaborate and bond with our spa friends and colleagues on the west side of our state.
Our FSA family has grown and we are excited for our new FSA Board Members to join us at this event. Our new Board Members are highly accomplished spa professionals, ready to help guide us on the next generation of our journey. Our spirits are high and we are energized as we wrap up plans for an extraordinary day carved out for our spas and vendor partners. We do want to express our sincere gratitude to our vendor partners that will be exhibiting their innovative and superior products at the vendor showcase and thank them for their support as part of our FSA family.
We have been preparing for a pivotal education panel presentation of experts to deliver the “Paradigm Shift” that has taken place in our spa industry. A new curve has been evolving in our spa space that has been emerging with thought provoking concepts to adjust our businesses and address the needs of spas, staffing and clients. This panel will speak to the heart of our industry and the rapid changes affecting establishments, spa leaders, providers and suppliers. It will be a meaningful presentation for our industry, which is filled with inspirational leaders.
These inspiring spa leaders align their work with the values of their team, encouraging them to achieve ambitious goals. They promote increased engagement with a clear sense of purpose for their staff which helps each individual find more value in their work. This type of leadership, at its core, is about finding ways to enhance each individuals capability and inspire them to push themselves to reach their potential.
As we continue to look into the future we need to appreciate the importance that we all bring to the table and use that energy to explore new ideas and tap into our creative thinking, move that needle and be that source of inspiration for our spa community.
Wishing Wellness

"Voice-It" Spa Talk with Mitchell

Remember the line from The Karate Kid, "Wax On, Wax Off"? The young apprentice wanted to learn to fight, but his mentor kept making him learn the basics of Karate, which was like the movements of applying wax on a car, then removing it.
My Club's mask mandate was dropped recently, & I assumed I'd feel like I did 2 years ago ready to roam freely in mask-less bliss. The reality was that I had to go back to the basics of assessing boundaries and distance comfort levels.
When someone does a big exhale near me, I reflexively hold my breath so as not to breath in a potentially COVID-laden cloud of kooties.
In smaller spaces, my mask comes out of my pocket and on it goes. Ahh, I finally relax again. I know I am not alone in this dilemma, but as of this writing I have not contracted COVID and I know its mostly because I have been in a vaxed, boosted, masked and socially distanced boot-camp for 2 years.
I guess it takes time to learn a new skill? Like karate, patience, discipline and practice will prevail!

RESEARCH
TO REAL LIFE
In his Fifth Avenue NYC dermatology clinic, Dr. Dennis Gross draws from his years of research in cell biology and skin health to treat domestic and international patients from all walks of life to beautifully transform skin.
|
|
Dr. Dennis Gross is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatological surgeon that has been in practice for 25+ years and founder of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare. His exclusive dermatology practice in Manhattan is where he has been dedicated to continuously advancing his professional experience as a clinician, practicing dermatologist and researcher as well as fostering his life as a husband, parent and caring teacher.
His skincare expertise to deliver proven products and treatment success with the education and support has made the difference in the lives of many people by helping them understand the importance of healthier skin.
Dr Dennis Gross’ philosophy and approach are cascaded into every aspect of the experience. The expertise, efficacy and trust that have been infused into every product and interaction create a brand that one should never need–or want–to switch from.
|
|
The breakthrough that launched the brand 25 years ago was the creation of the skincare line that stemmed from the Professional Alpha Beta Peel, which was developed as an alternative to harsh, single-acid peels that were popular at the time, causing downtime and often worsening the skin versus improving it. These daily peels use a cocktail of acids for an immediate glow to produce healthier skin. Because they gently lift away dead skin, your fresh, high-functioning and more vibrant skin cells come to the surface and make the most of any products you apply.
The daily peel is designed for results, not redness, for all skin types. It’s about safety, strength, success, and the skin you want to see. With more vibrancy, better tone and texture, reduced lines, refined pores and less discoloration. A peel a day changes everything!
|
|
Scientific skincare: Proven. Responsible. Health-first.
These products deliver transformative improvement with the most optimized active ingredients for results without downtime. Based on Dr Dennis Gross’ professional experience as a cancer researcher, practicing dermatologist and formula innovator, they have eliminated more than 1650 ingredients due to his concerns about their potential toxicity, safety and ability to harm or irritate skin. They vet all of their formulas with comprehensive laboratory, clinical and safety studies before they bring them to you.
They never stop working for you and will never do anything to compromise the health of your skin!

Self-Care Checklist for Business Owners
|
|
Successfully running a business requires all hands on deck and let’s face it, there isn’t a lot of downtime. When you’re putting so much effort into making sure everyone else stays well, it’s easy to let your own wellness slip through the cracks.
We looked to learn what other business owners do to stay grounded through the ups and downs. We also asked, “What compliment would you give yourself for getting through the last few years?” Their responses were moving and relatable.
Here are a few of our favorite tips, and the encouragement they shared, for those times when life feels busier than usual:

Well-being and cognitive ability are linked throughout childhood, study finds
|
|
A longitudinal study has found evidence that well-being and cognition mutually affect each other throughout childhood and early adolescence. The study, published in the journal Clinical Psychological Science, further uncovered risk factors that are associated with worse outcomes. These risk factors include early puberty and poor relationships with parents.

As climate change hits hard this winter, the ramifications on physical and mental health loom large.
According to the CDC, two thirds of people are now at higher risk for cancer due to the effects of environmental disasters like wildfires and hurricanes, and human-caused disasters like poor air quality and pesticides. Many more are suffering from what’s becoming known as “eco despair.”
“Each of us as individuals have limited control over the big picture of global climate change,” says Dr. Julie Elledge, therapist and Founder of Mentor Agility, based in Jackson Hole, WY. “It can be overwhelming and cause existential despair.”
Here are her wellness tips and an action plan for coping.
