SeaKeepers Selected as 2023 YPY's Charity of the Year Award
On January 28th, 2023, SeaKeepers received the Charity of the Year Award at the Young Professionals in Yachting (YPY) Annual Gala. The Charity of the Year Award recognizes an organization as their charity partner to become their focus for collaboration for the year. The annual YPY Gala was presented at the Oceanic in Pompano Beach, Florida.

SeaKeepers UK Launch
Join The International SeaKeepers Society in celebrating the official expansion of our presence to the UK on 13th May 2023 at RNLI College. The evening will highlight our recent partnerships and programming activities in the UK & Europe.
25th Anniversary Celebration
SeaKeepers is celebrating our 25th anniversary on October 25th, 2023, during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Join us to commemorate 25 years of promoting oceanographic research, conservation, and education in partnership with the yachting community. We will honor past SeaKeepers of the Year recipients and showcase the milestone achievements over the last quarter century.
PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
Junior SeaKeepers Program
On March 26th, 2023, SeaKeepers held the first Junior SeaKeepers Program floating classroom for Spring semester students. The program allowed students to explore reef ecology and fish physiology through a snorkeling trip near Key Biscayne, Florida aboard the SeaKeepers' Vessel DISCOVERY.
SeaKeepers Reaches 20,000 Pound Milestone
SeaKeepers thanks all volunteers and supporters for their efforts in removing 20,113 pounds of marine debris from coastlines and beaches since the organization's cleanup program began in 2019. Cleaning up marine debris is crucial to the preservation of the ocean ecosystem and the protection of marine life.
WORKSHOP & AT-SEA RESEARCH
ACREW Yachting Workshop
March 23rd, 2023
SeaKeepers presented Day 2 of the "Sustainability & Science on Yachts" program at ACREW's Superyacht Crew Workshop Event in Mallorca, Spain, aimed to guide boaters waste reduction and participating in science at sea.
Permit Spawning Aggregation
March 4th-13th, 2023
SeaKeepers assisted Florida International University's researchers in monitoring permit spawning aggregations. The data was collected in the Florida Keys, aboard SeaKeepers' Vessel DISCOVERY.
SCTLD Assessments
April 8th & March 12th-15th, 2023
SeaKeepers assisted The Perry Institute for Marine Science's researchers in assessing Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD). The research was conducted in the Bahamas, aboard DISCOVERY Yacht Andromeda. 
Seabed 2030 Project
February 22nd-26th, 2023
SeaKeepers is partnered with Seabed 2030 to crowdsource bathymetric data collection. Loggers were installed in five charter vessels during the 2023 Bahamas Charter Yacht Show.
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT
JSK Floating Classroom
April 1st, 2023
SeaKeepers and International Game Fish Association (IGFA) co-hosted a Junior SeaKeepers Program floating classroom on the SeaKeepers' Vessel DISCOVERY in Biscayne Bay.
Monthly Pelican Harbor Cleanup
March 18th, 2023
SeaKeepers has officially adopted Pelican Island in Biscayne Bay through Miami-Dade Parks. 87 volunteers cleared 197.4 pounds of trash and tracked their findings in the Marine Debris Tracker App at the last cleanup.
Mallorca Beach Cleanup
March 25th, 2023
SeaKeepers, Clean Wave Foundation, ACREW, and the USA 50 Sailing Team co-hosted a successful beach cleanup in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, with 22 volunteers collecting a total of 2,130 grams of plastics.
Educational Cleanup
February 19th, 2023
SeaKeepers hosted an educational cleanup with Moishe House at Morningside Park with 43 volunteers who collected 125 pounds of trash and tracked their findings in the Marine Debris Tracker App.

Aspen Ideas: Climate Showcase
SeaKeepers attended the Aspen Ideas: Climate showcase in Miami Beach, FL, during the week of March 6th-9th, 2023, to learn about addressing climate change and its secondary issues. The event included talks and panels on climate advocacy, managed retreats, electrification, and communication of climate crisis. The goal was to find new green ideas and technologies for a more sustainable yachting industry.
