Stay cool and celebrate the "Dog Days of Summer" at Howard County's 50+ Centers

The “Dog Days of Summer" commonly refers to the hottest and most unbearable days of the season. But did you know the expression is actually a reference to Sirius, the Dog Star? During the “Dog Days” the Sun occupies the same region of the sky as Sirius, the brightest star visible from Earth. Thus, the term Dog Days of Summer came to mean the 20 days before and 20 days after the alignment of Sirius with the Sun—July 3 to August 11. Want to stay cool? Thrive While Aging Solo

A Solo Ager is a person who, by choice or circumstance, functions without the support system traditionally provided by families. Anyone can become a solo ager following a life event like divorce or the death of a spouse.
