Professional dramatist Chuck Neighbors will be performing his one-man show,
Not The Way I Heard It
at Live Oak Church on September 18th during our regular church service.
Since 1974 Chuck has performed throughout the United States and Canada as well as Japan, Korea and Africa. He has appeared on television, radio and before hundreds of live audiences. He is perhaps best know for his one-man dramatic adaptation of Charles Sheldon's classic In His Steps. In Not The Way I Heard It, actor and playwright Chuck Neighbors brings some of our favorite Biblical parables to life - familiar stories told in a fresh new way. You will hear: The Parable of the Talents set in a psychiatrist's office from a patient who is struggling with life after losing his job. The Parable of the Prodigal Son from the "other son's" point of view as he communicates his feelings toward his wayward brother. The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard from a disgruntled employee trying to come to terms with the boss's apparent favoritism. The Parable Good Samaritan from the victim's perspective, as he discovers what it means to "love your neighbor as yourself." The Parable of the Sower and the Seeds from a grandfather sharing the sorrow and joys of the differing paths his children have chosen. In the same way the original parables encouraged the faith of listeners over 2000 years ago-this retelling will encourage faith as well!
The public is invited to attend so invite your neighbors to join us!
My name is Taylor Kirby, and I am the daughter of Michael and Carol Kirby. Recently I've accepted a position as a campus minister at the University of Arkansas with an evangelical student ministry called InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. As a campus minister I will be developing student leaders, organizing outreaches, and leading bible studies all to reach the campus with the love of Jesus and see lives transformed by the gospel. God has given me a passion to see students come to know Jesus during this crucial time in their lives, so that they will follow Jesus in whatever occupations and locations they end up in after college. Before I can begin my mission work on campus, however, I must raise my budget of $39,000. I am looking for a team of people willing to pray and invest financially in the work I will be doing this year, and I would like to invite you to consider partnering with me!
I would love to meet with you over the phone or in person to share with you more about what I will be doing and
answer any questions.
You can reach me at
Thank you for considering investing in the Kingdom work at the University of Arkansas.
In His Love,
Taylor Kirby
