CALLING ALL DANCERS

By day we offer close to 170 workshops in instrumental and vocal music, and dance. And every night at Lark Camp, enjoy dancing to amazing live music from around the world, provided by instructors and fellow students. Just feast your eyes on the selection! You might be thinking, "But I don't know how to do these dances!" Ah, padawan, that is why you come to Lark Camp! You can learn any of them in our daytime workshops, and none of them are hard to learn. Never danced before? Never fear! Dancing is just walking to the different rhythms of the various music genres, and our instructors will help demystify anything that's new to you.

For example, do you like Latin music? Cora Hubbert will teach basic Salsa, and Salsa Rueda from Cuba, and that means you'll be up to speed for the big Latin Dance Party on the final night of Lark Camp. Do unusual Balkan rhythms fascinate you? Sue Williard and her assistants Jenette Sellin & Eliza Cantwell will help you understand them. The sweet turning dances of Scandinavia are deliciously smooth and fun when Toby Blomé and Fred Bialy show you the ropes. You can also learn these other cool dance forms: Contras, Cajun/Zydeco, French & Breton, American Swing, Middle Eastern Belly and Persian Dance, Zimbabwean dance, English Country Dance (with the emphasis on country and including midnight raves in Camp 2), Irish Set and Ceili dance, Greek, Breton and Galician dance from Spain. To see when and where each dance is taught, visit the workshop search on our website, tick the "instrument" box and select "dance." Go to the workshop schedule and click on a workshop title to see a description of what will be taught and a bio for the instructor.

OTHER NOTEWORTHY CHANGES

We realize that our newsletter can be confusing. It says Lark Camp at the top, but it really should say Lark Traditional Arts. Lark Traditional Arts (LTA) is our "mother ship", the nonprofit organization that runs Lark Camp, Virtual Lark, the Campout, and (during the pandemic) Lark Camp Online. Each of these is a different event operating under the LTA umbrella. We heard that many folks were confused about Virtual Lark – our winter online weekend of workshops – when the newsletter appeared to be about Lark Camp. You can look forward to clearer organization soon. Watch for the LTA logo that was created for us by Lila Burns.
