Board of Education Regular Meeting on September 12
At its September 12 meeting, the Board of Education approved an agreement with the Akron-based GPD Group for design and architectural services on the project conversion of the former Ludlow Elementary School into a PreKindergarten center. The agreement calls for GPD to be paid a basic fee of $995,775 for the project, or 7.1 percent of the construction budget of $14.025.
Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey A. Grosse informed Board members that the District has started the process of seeking a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the project. A CMAR is a project delivery method which entails a commitment by the Construction Manager to deliver the project within a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).
The deadline for submission of the RFQs is October 13. A team will review the submissions and will choose three or four firms as finalists. Finalists will be asked to submit a request for proposal (RFP) by November 7. The District will recommend a choice for Construction Manager at Risk at the December 12 Board of Education meeting.
