Finance & Audit Committee Meeting Summary

The Finance & Audit Committee held a meeting on Thursday, March 9. During this meeting, the committee received an update and engaged in a discussion regarding the long-term facilities plan. Some highlights from the meeting included:


  • The group examined different segmenting scenarios, which are listed below. Please note, the order of buildings listed below within each segment does not necessarily reflect the order of construction.

  • The committee explored the implications of these different scenarios on bond issues and millage amounts.
  • The group discussed the upcoming Five-Year Forecast, which will be released in May, and considered how to include projected PreK operating costs, as well as the impact of expanded PreK operating costs on potential operating levies.
  • The committee also explored the possibility of a joint ballot issue to include a bond issue for capital needs and a small operating levy for PreK operating costs.

District leaders and the Board of Education will continue to discuss these topics at the Monday, March 20 Board of Education work session and in future Board meetings.


Board of Education Work Session on March 20

A Shaker Heights Board of Education's special work session devoted to facilities will take place at 5 p.m. Monday, March 20, in the High School small auditorium. This session will be open to the public to attend in person and will also be livestreamed at shaker.org/boardlive and via Boxcast.
