Infrastructure Updates

Asphalt Pavement Rehabilitation Projects

Three District H neighborhoods are receiving asphalt pavement rehabilitation projects as a part of the Mayor's Street Rehabilitation Initiative:

  • Independence Heights, beginning on E. 36th St. at Yale moving towards Main St, see map
  • Second Ward, see map
  • Washington Avenue Coalition/Memorial Park, see map

The project should start on the first of Nov. and take 4-6 weeks to complete.

Street & Drainage Improvement

Street and drainage improvements on Estelle St. in Second Ward began this week. Construction location here.

Avenue Place Speed Cushions

Speed cushions in Avenue Place are currently being installed, see map. Installation should take about 4 weeks. Learn more about speed cushions here.

Historic Designation

Formerly known as Robert E. Lee Elementary, the Leonel J. Castillo Community Center was recently designated as a Protected Landmark by Houston City Council. Read more about the history here.

DATE CHANGE: Historic Norhill Design Guidelines Meeting

Join Norhill Neighborhood Association for an introduction to 2023 Historic Norhill Design Guidelines with Houston Office of Preservation. More info here.

Tomorrow is the last day of Early Voting

Early Voting runs through Fri, Nov 3rd. A total of 68 voting centers are open between 7am-7pm today and tomorrow. On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 701 voting centers will be open from 7am-7pm. Click here for a list of voting centers.

Stakeholder Conversation for Denver Harbor and East End

Veterans Day Waste Collection

There will be NO INTERRUPTION to the waste collection service on the Veterans Day Holiday, Fri, Nov. 10th. Drop off facilities and administrative offices will also be closed. On Sat, Nov. 11th, Neighborhood Depositories, Westpark Recycling Center, Environmental Service Center, and the Reuse Warehouse will resume normal operations.
