The Power of Teams
I've been involved with various teams over the years from being a three-sport varsity athlete and clubs in high school, running in Nationals in college, serving in various levels in the military or the civilian sector, to working together as a club officer and district leadership.
The most important thing I learned through all these experiences is to be thankful to and for other people that I've had the opportunity to work with. There is power in teamwork especially when things are challenging, and you need to rely more on your peers than yourself.
I'd like to encourage each of you to thank the people you have worked with because they have helped mold you into the person you are today. Then, continue to encourage and thank each team member who is a part of your ongoing journey.

Don't Miss Out
Please check with the members of your club and ask if they have been receiving the monthly newsletters, workshop reminders, and club officer invitations to events.
Why you may be missing out:
Toastmasters World Headquarters has directed the following: If a member opts to have their information withheld from the educational awards report or triple crown, they should not be acknowledged by the district for their achievements. The reason is because the member has made a decision to remain anonymous and out of respect the district should honor their decision. If a complaint is received, the member may update their privacy and consents through the Toastmasters website to be acknowledged in the future.
By opting out of (5) Your name on Public Reports it will show as Name unavailable. To correct this, opt in (Yes) and your Name will show up on the District Report.
Please discuss this with the members in your club. No one knows about the setting until the educational award is submitted and we see it is listed as Name unavailable.

Have you been thinking of
growing your club?
Have you considered a
Speechcraft Open House?
Holding an Open House is one of several ways to promote your club, and an excellent way to launch your Speechcraft. Speechcraft helps the club grow, which brings new members, fresh viewpoints, and helps enable future effective and productive meetings.
Our Speechcraft Chair, Brianna Wichowsky, gave an excellent workshop on October 19. If you couldn’t attend, email me at abrodietm@gmail.com for a link.
Your PQD Education team will be holding Phase 2 Club Officer Training on November 28. All club officers and all members are invited. Looking forward to seeing you there!
We also have workshops scheduled in the next month, one on Storytelling and one on Contest Judging.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Speechcraft Incentive
Speechcraft is an abbreviated Toastmasters experience, like a mini college course on speaking. It is designed for non-members, run by experienced club members. It can be 4, 6, or 8 weeks long. Speechcraft is also an excellent membership building tool.
Our District team would be happy to help you get you started! We’re offering free Speechcraft ($50.00 value) to all District 65 clubs that run a Speechcraft between October 2023 to May 2024.

Dear Patty,
I have been progressing through my Pathways Path and have completed Level 3; however, I am unable to open my Level 4. What is stopping me from progressing forward with my education?
My Base Camp Manager revealed the problem—I must record my meeting roles. Would you please explain how best to do that?
-Stumped Steve

Dear Stumped Steve,
Yes, Toastmasters tracks serving in the following roles for each path:
- Toastmaster
- Evaluator
- Table Topic Master
The Evaluator role is filled in the Level 1 project “Evaluation and Feedback”. The Table Topics Master occurs in the “Active Listening” project. For the Toastmasters role for first timers is always a challenge. But don’t worry, your other club members will help you to fill that role.
If you are ready to begin Level 4, you need to find when you completed these roles. Fortunately, Easy Speak and Free Toast Host (FTH), the two most popular club websites and agenda creators, have a full record of when you served in a role. Ask your VP Education for the information.
Follow these steps to mark your progress in Base Camp:
- Go to Base Camp
- Click on the gear symbol in the upper right
- Open My Account
- Input the date you served in the roles
For those of you just beginning your Pathways/Toastmasters journey, you may complete this after every meeting in which you fill a meeting role.
Wishing you all much success in your Pathways journey.
Patty
PS: If you have a question about Pathways, please email Dear Patty at D65Pathways@gmail.com. We may choose your letter to share with the District 65 Newsletter.
