Summer Construction

We’ve been working diligently since school got out, and our summer construction projects are taking shape! We’ve made significant progress in repairing the gym floors in our elementary schools. You can see the different steps of the process in the below photos. Our contractors removed the protective layer to repair the base layer. Plus, you’ll notice some pipes sticking out of the ground; those were added for volleyball posts. From there, the polyurethane floors were carefully poured and buffed, and the process was repeated until things were finished! They look empty now, but we’ll soon see the different court lines and boundaries marked out.

Click here for more on what is happening this summer as part of our planned capital facility improvements.

This is the Franklin gym before the process of pouring on the new surface. You'll also notice the lunch tables are being replaced.

Washington's gym before it got another coat of polyurethane, which is why there are those waves of color. All part of the process before it's finished.

Here the crew is hard at work on the Roosevelt gym floor.

Phase 1A At Lincoln

The basement at Lincoln is also being transformed as part of our Phase 1A plan for the middle school. The former basement auditorium has had its chairs removed and the surrounding walls were brought down to prepare for the new Industrial Tech spaces and renovated Broadcast class. As you can see from the photos below, the space already looks totally different.

A trench was dug out for a drainage tile system to be installed, and further plumbing and other infrastructure are being added to support Phase 1B.

Specialists have also been abating hazardous materials from the areas being worked on over the summer, as shown in the photo of the closed-off hallway right before they started on the first floor.

For The Fun Of It

Check out all the fun during Worlds of Wonder as students learn in this hands-on crafts class.

From the beginning to the end, the students definitely got messy with science projects, crafts, games, cooking, and outdoor activities! Thank you to Tina Bridich’s class for the behind-the-scenes look.
